That's pretty obvious bull****. Pretty clearly just racists looking to make something out of nothing, just like Suzzer, an anti-racist, was making something out of an innocent picture of a racist.
Wait, you think liberals misidentifying racism just happened that one time, in this thread?

.....Seriously?

Nah, we know that you think liberals misidentify racism any time they say anything is racist, or at least anything that happened since the passage of the Civil Rights Act. Even if you're willing to concede that there is racism in the abstract, we'll still find you arguing that anything we call racist isn't actually so.

Is misidentifying racism such a huge problem nowadays that it makes people sympathize with actual racists?

You would think that if it happened everywhere all the time then you wouldn't need to fill your post with blatant misinterpretations.

Also, by the way, you can see in the camera that Miller's hands aren't visible on screen. Your thought is that he's maybe throwing up subtle white power gang signs while interviewing, in the hopes that some photographers might snag a pic and publish them, which will embolden his white supremacist allies. All while being deeply autistic.

Remember folks, no problem at all that conservatives have spent decades calling liberals baby-killers, race pimps, and commie f*gs, but libs calling things racist is Why Trump Won.

See, this is why you don't have discussions about racism with people who are firmly planted on one side. This is also why "fiscally conservative and socially liberal" is a bull**** cliche that none of them ascribe to and is simply a way to disconnect themselves with the bat**** crazy ideas of the GOP. Trying to explain systemic racism to people who believe themselves to be an island is a futile task. It is like trying to explain to anti-vax individuals that herd immunity is real and it protects us all, especially the weaker. They are inherently selfish individuals that don't give a damn about data/science and ultimately want to be 'left alone'. You should probably just ignore him and his 'this is why Trump won' rhetoric. Data would say Trump won because of voter suppression causing reduced dem turnout.

The level of denial in this thread is nuts. If you guys can't learn from this election, wow. We're in for a crazy ride.

I have to agree with Tsao too. We shouldn't tell factory workers that it's good that they're out of a job because of global warming. Luckily no one does that.

and you know what, Trump asking the black reporter if she can set up a meeting with the CBC isn't racism either. Racism is the belief that people are inherently inferior based on their race.

Lol, so glad that the good and wise Taso has returned to condescendingly drop takes like this.

Correct. It's about winning the all important 2020 Taso vote. +8000 Taso has never voted btw.

Yes if only the Dems could learn from this, they might win by 5 million instead of only 3 million.

You are a libertarian...pretty much the mantra of people who deny everything. They deny being republicans (but they vote republican).

Probably more akin to suggesting a judge couldn't be impartial because he had Mexican heritage, right?

If they have Black entertainment television then why can't there be a White entertainment television. That's the real racism!

****ing libertarians, I can't even begin to figure out how they can do better (I think I'd like them to focus on winning one congressional seat, or winning a State legislature, maybe). But unlike libertarians, liberals have a huge voice that can compete with conservatives, they're just not using it very well.
Ok so there are known and avowed white supremacists in high roles in the White House, what should we do about that?

President Donald Trump’s former campaign staffers claim they cracked the code for tamping down his most inflammatory tweets, and they say the current West Wing staff would do well to take note.

The key to keeping Trump’s Twitter habit under control, according to six former campaign officials, is to ensure that his personal media consumption includes a steady stream of praise. And when no such praise was to be found, staff would turn to friendly outlets to drum some up — and make sure it made its way to Trump’s desk.

"If candidate Trump was upset about unfair coverage, it was productive to show him that he was getting fair coverage from outlets that were persuadable," said former communications director Sam Nunberg. "The same media that our base digests and prefers is going to be the base for his support. I would assume the president would like see positive and preferential treatment from those outlets and that would help the operation overall."
Millennials, amiright?

I think a very small minority of people do it once in a while. On the whole, if you're counting all the tumblr or facebook posts in the world, yeah, you can spend all day talking about that, but that's pretty damn stupid, no?

If it were true that these tumblr posts were going to doom anti-racists to failure then anti-racists are doomed, because that can't be stopped. But, it's not true. It's racists rationalizing their position and they would have found some reason if there wasn't that facebook post going around.

Republicans spent the last eight years yelling about how obama was awful and how everything he was doing was socialism and that liberals were just terrible people. They now have control of the presidency, both branches of congress, and like thirty-some state governments. If the lesson is anything, it's that democrats didn't do enough demonizing of republicans.
02-22-2017 , 02:12 PM
I'm sure that my pony is slow, but four months after the election, I've decided that the debate about the extent to which Trump supporters are racist, xenophobic, etc., is mostly beside the point. Many Trump supports are racists, of course, but that's not the main reason they voted for Trump. The main reason they voted for Trump was because he was the Republican candidate and they self identify as Republicans. GOP racism might have pulled them into the party initially, but party affiliation has long since eclipsed racism as they main driver of their voting behavior. Put another way, if the Democrats had somehow nominated a candidate that was more racist than the Republican candidate, most of Trump voters would have voted for the less racist Republican candidate. I fear that the same is true on the Democratic side although I would like to think that the effect is less extreme.

This is a long way of saying that true independents are fewer in number than most assume. Many are liars (they know who they are going to vote for) or simply crave attention. Those who are truly undecided or independent are probably in the midst of a long term switch in teams. They will not be truly independent by the next election cycle, although they may claim to be.

I think the lesson to be learned is that candidates and parties should focus almost exclusively on turnout and on indoctrinating the next generation of voters. They should spend little, if time on low yield strategies like trying to persuade Joe Independent to vote one way or the other or trying to convince committed party supporters that they need to switch teams, either temporarily or permanently. Party affiliation is just too sticky. Long term shifts can occur (see Reagan's Southern strategy) but they are rare.
