Volcanoes are obvious. You knew the ****ing thing was there you saw it when you moved in. Hurricanes are less obvious in terms of frequency and strength, but I bought a home on a peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean, I don’t deserve a bunch of sympathy either. But I’m talking specifically about building in places where it has been known since people bothered to start writing down the day’s happenings that HEY A FLOOD IS GOING TO HAPPEN HERE THE CHANCES ARE 100%. Most of that specifically predates global warming as a concept. Sure it’s getting worse but it’s always been there and I’m happy for some of my tax dollars to go toward relocating and retraining these marks but **** building them yet another house that will be knee deep in water this time next year because of predictable things happening predictably.
