There's a huge gap between reality and perception when it comes to popular assessments of whether things are caused by aging or are just differences in generations.

People think everybody was a free love peacenik hippie, when really it was a pretty small-ish minority

People think MLK was loved, when he had majority disapproval rating the day he died

So people are just like, oh wow look how people got more ****ty as they aged

People think you lose your sweet tooth when you get older, when really it's just that each new generation is raised on even more sugar and craves their sweets to be even sweeter

Trump already running for 2020 has to be the biggest joke of them all. He literally is incapable of switching from campaign mode.
02-17-2017 , 03:42 PM
i feel like he's kind of desperate and wants to go back to a time where things were looking better and he was confident.

I hope,

that or paid agitators into catastrophe

Along with that group would be Hispanic-Americans whose families have been here many generations and are more evenly divided ideologically than recent immigrants. Education levels surely vary between those groups, but I doubt there's a cause and effect that education leads to conservatism.

My guess would be indirect causation. For instance more educated people tend to travel more and people who travel more and more empathetic toward others and so on.

I honestly believe that he's down in the dumps over all the ldo negative press he's received since the end of the election and needs his safe space which is adoring crowds clapping at every dumb thing he reads from a teleprompter.

He pretends to be a tough guy but in reality he's highly insecure and really wants to be loved and his ego can't take that he isn't

Yep, even tweeted how Rush loved his trainwreck press conference.

It must be exhausting to grow up around a guy like this. The speeches by his kids at the RNC were so strange, not a hint of levity or poking good-natured fun at dad. Just 100% hero worship.

I listen to the local radio hosts, but sometimes will catch tiny portions of Rush or Mark Levin if I'm in my car at an odd time of day. I listen to podcasts of the local and weekend programming.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has been on the decline forever, but I check more for the local stuff.

Reddit is supposed to be a place where the hivemind does all of the work for you in sorting interesting things to the top, but as you can imagine, it's just like 2p2 with a tiny fraction of the brain cells and WAY more angry women. Not a friendly place for conservatives, though I've only been banned from one subreddit. (r/latestagecapitalism, fwiw)

WSJ subscription is through my office.

Checking Drudge is more of a habit and for whatever the big red headline is than anything else. I click through to an article maybe once a week?

I am a big fan of Jay Weber on WISN. He really puts a lot of effort into his show and commentary.

I just check the big headlines on DRUDGE

I don't read into it or anything

It doesn't affect me
02-17-2017 , 04:09 PM
Yeah, because it's ****ing Drudge. I know they have an agenda the same as you.

That doesn't mean it's not valuable as a site to load and instantly recognize what might be the news of the day.

except drudge dictates to you what he deems worthy to be your news of the day

Media is throwing Patreus name around for national securitiy advisor, only saying he has "baggage". No one seems to care that he is on probation for leaking classified info.

Yeah, that's pretty much how all of them work. It's called media bias, and it's simply the way things are. That's why God gave you a brain and independent mind with which to seek out alternative points of view and draw your own conclusions.

That's why I like the radio guys who spend hours every day sifting through interesting stories that you probably won't find on CNN or MSNBC because they don't fit the narrative.

Like the Dakota Access pipeline protesters that left hundreds of truckloads of trash and over 200 vehicles behind for someone else to clean up after finally getting kicked out by the Standing Rock Sioux. Real concerned with the environment, that crowd.

True journalism is dead. We're in the emotional clickbait/headline era now. It's up to you to not let yourself be consumed by the hivemind.

Any rational person would save specifying his baggage until after he's picked. His combination of competence and the opportunity to lol at his baggage makes him an excellent choice.

claire sucks but it's MO so losing her would make it more likely flip that seat to R.

Doing what R's did isn't gonna work for D's in R states. However, there are a lot of R districts with the gerrymandering that aren't strong R districts. Perhaps state legs are a better target, R's are setup to gain federally in 18 even with bad trump #'s.

McCain seems to enjoy playing shadow president. Probably still quite sad over losing in 2008. If only he would back up his words with some actual action.
