The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

Trump putting in the populists as an affront to the Republican big wigs

Quote:
Speaking to the Heritage Foundation about his 2011 book, "Job Creation: How It Really Works and Why Government Doesn't Understand It," Puzder suggested the Democratic Party was benefitting from more than half the country receiving benefits.

"Last year, 52% of the people in the country got more from government than they gave to government," Puzder said. "We do have a segment of the population that's going to continue to vote benefits to themselves. You have to make a decision for yourself which party actually supports that and would therefore want to continue to have those people vote for them by taking from the rich and giving to the poor, as they like to say, which tilts the electoral balance in favor of those who get the benefits. If they are more than 50% of the population, we've got a problem."
It's a nice reminder that Romney's "48% are leeches on job creators" wasn't because Romney was particularly heartless, it's an Republican talking point. Should probably roll labor secretary into commerce secretary though.

So Jake Tapper pretty much just trolled him into this I guess. Most easily exploitable president ever.

Imagine if he managed to find a guy who was registered in a state he didn't even live in, and just what Trump would have done to that guy...

Maybe, but the suppressors are lazy, and their base mostly just wants racial minorities suppressed, and since ~40% of the Democratic Party are now racial minorities and they're poorer and less powerful than whites who trend wealthier, they're going to triangulate / compromise and do the easier thing and just put the screws to blacks and Hispanics. If they jerk around poor whites and up, that will get them into the news and produce anxiety/sympathy among white people and threaten their political consensus.

All of the "strengthening" policies will not be de jure partisan, just de facto partisan and the targets are going to be brown people because if they went after whites they'd face genuine, holistic backlash.

Also the parade of people insisting that the GOP wouldn't eventually fall in line.

All the intelligence agencies are telling you to about Russia. No investigation needed.

No evidence from anyone other than his imagination that millions voted illegally. Investigation needed.

The Trump administration is preparing a sweeping executive order that would clear the way for the Central Intelligence Agency to reopen overseas “black site” prisons, like those where it detained and tortured terrorism suspects before former President Obama shut them down.

President Trump’s three-page draft order, titled “Detention and Interrogation of Enemy Combatants,” and obtained by The New York Times would also undo many of the other restrictions on handling detainees that Mr. Obama put in place in response to policies of the Bush administration.

If Mr. Trump signs the draft order, he would also revoke Mr. Obama’s directive to give the International Committee of the Red Cross access to all wartime detainees in American custody – another step toward reopening secret prisons outside of the normal wartime rules established by the Geneva Conventions.
Trump will be much more peaceful than Clinton

How do these things work in the US - who appoints the group or person responsible for the investigation and is the final report public?

Now most likely Trump has someone draft up some papers no body will ever see that say he was right.

How long until Trump's CIA black sites are torturing CNN reporters?

I dunno about that. 6 month ago, we thought the idea of erecting a wall between the US and Mexico was rock bottom. Now it sounds like one of the most progressive point of Trump's agenda. "Hey, he could have given licence to kill to shoot the BROWNS on sight".

I'll keep saying it: minor obstruction and passive-aggressive disobedience from career civil servants is going to go a long way toward saving this country.

Would some people be willing to make a clearly false statement when looking directly at photographic evidence — simply to support the Trump administration’s claims?

Yes.

The President appoints the Attorney general, who appoints the DoJ staffers who conduct the investigation. They can results if they want or if they are leaked.
