That's the direction we're heading and those who don't realize this and aren't preparing for it have their heads in the sand. Not sure how a 2nd civil war plays out in the modern age, but it needs to be had before democracy and every important institution gets taken down. We are well on our way to dictatorship. Trump supporters are so zeroed in on their disdain for non-whites they don't see it. At least they don't see how it's a problem for them. Yet...

Of course, the Dems and left can continue taking the "high road" and just let our democracy quietly slip away into a gradual dictatorship. And this might be the most likely outcome. Trumpkins have the edge because the left is fractured with tons of infighting. You see it on this forum. My theory is that the left is more intelligent and compassionate, which means they are more likely to be independent thinkers who don't agree on everything. The one thing the conservative right has going for them is they stick together as a herd even when they have fundamental disagreements. The end always justify the means with them.

While the left was being civil, the GOP stole a supreme court seat and obstructed every single thing Obama tried to get done. Civility doesn't work on the brick brained right. Not allowing Sanders or Nielsen to dine out in public should just be the start. Next is anyone who dares shows their public support for this demagogue. After that, it's physical violence. I don't see this ending peacefully if we're to preserve democracy. This is especially true if that blue wave never comes in November, which I have little confidence due to all the infighting on the left.
