Here's an interesting Vox article on the billions in federal taxes that undocumented immigrants pay every year.

Thanks for the link. That explains a few a few things i did not understand. Obviously from your username you are Irish, are you living in the US?

Two relevant quotes from the linked article - 'Instead, she has an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), created by the IRS in 1996 so people who aren’t allowed to work in the United States could still file taxes on any income they earned. (The IRS does not share ITIN information with immigration authorities.)' and 'And workers who get a paycheck, like Maria, still have payroll taxes for Medicare and Social Security withheld from their paycheck, even if they put a fake Social Security number on their W-2 form.'
Seems to me there are two very easy fixes for the above quotes IF the US was serious about stopping illegal immigration, i know the US is not serious about stopping illegal immigration because of the reasons SuperUberBob listed, make it that the IRS does report ITIN information to immigration authorities and make it illegal for an employer to hire a person with a fake Social Security number.

Not living in the US. Just an observer from Kildare (possibly within 15 miles of you, judging by your username!) watching in horrified fascination as the US falls apart. BTW I've a brother who lives in a very nice part of Denver (think he paid around $500,000 for his house, maybe a little more). He says that practically all his neighbours are Trumpkins. Economic anxiety, my arse.

My username is where i was living when i started playing online poker and signing up to internet sites. I'm now living in a neighbouring village, back where i started from, so i'm possibly nearer than 15 miles to you.

I also have a brother in the US, he's over 20 years there now, he is well up the ladder in a well know multi-national company in middle America and like your brother most of the Americans in his circle are Trumpkins, he says there is no arguing with them. His view of the majority of Americans, and this predates Trump, is that while on a personal level they are decent enough people, they have a total lack of self awareness and of the part that the luck of circumstance of birth has played in the reasons of why where they are today. They reckon that a person who was born in the slums of Mexico City, for example, would be where they themselves are today if they worked hard enough.

This is a very important point.

As individuals most Americans I know are great people but as a group they have been poisoned by the cancerous mythos of the "American Dream" which leads far too many Americans to believe in bootstrapping and the idea that thier lot in life is due to thier hard work and not luck.

You could almost instantly cure America by removing patriotism and the belief in the American Dream. Nearly everything we complain about itt stems from one of those two ideas and the main difference between Democrats and Republicans is the degree to which each emphasizes them.

The IRS exists to collect taxes. The only illegal activities they will report or prosecute is tax fraud/avoidance. Anything else they turn a blind eye to.

One example is paying sales taxes at state level. When they buy something and pay cash, part of that money is going to state sales tax. The thing that moron Trumpkins dont understand is the US is built upon immigration. They just yell and scream about immigrants stealing their jobs. Really? So you went to your lawyer, doctor, dentist, mailman, etc., only to be seen by an illegal immigrant that stole the job? How did this happen? Did someone just show up at a hospital and relieve the doctor on duty and send him home? "Sorry pal, you lost your job!"

But these people dont care and they cant be bothered. Just look at the vile crap adios said. He hasnt been back since to defend his position. He simply doesn't care. He just hates brown people coming into the US and wants them to leave. He's oblivious that he'll have to pay $12 for a glass of orange juice while he gets his jollies watching Fox and Friends in the morning. There's a reason they are called Deplorables. They are holding back society because they are miserable and hate the fact that people they view as inferior are getting ahead.

they MIGHT be the most "loyal", in the sense of personal idolization of the leader as opposed to fidelity to the principles of the country?

But ya, his "joke" about wanting americans to sit up and pay attention or whatever it was like KJU wasn't a joke. He legit wants to be a dictator where everyone loves him.

I heard on the radio that they weeren’t actually taking him to DC lockup because of safety concerns, and were likely instead taking him to a county holding facility in Maryland. Still going to be a hellhole.

Speculation: As a wealthy ascending nation of immigrants we have internalized the idea that you can go from rags to middle class if not riches pretty easily. It did happen for a lot of people, but often over generations and in an environment of massive growth and no small measure of public support.

He's in a "Club Fed" facility in Virginia.

Well, not actually Club Fed, because I think that's low-security facilities, but it was built recently (1995).

Did Trump really claim to have coined the term "war games"?

Grounds for 25th amendment. This guy's brain is swiss cheese.

Remember Goofus & Gallant from Highlights magazine when you were a kid? Well, it taught children some good manners but wasn't nearly as funny as Justin & Donald.

Stephen Miller wrote this and Trump signed off before saying it, guaranteed. Just replace "American" with "white" and "MS-13" with "browns" and you'll see exactly what I mean.

EDIT: I had no idea Miller was communications director for Sessions before this. What a perfectly symbiotic duo. They definitely belong together (in hell).
