The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

This was posted earlier but I just finished reading it and thought it was worth putting up again. It's about the first couple of days.

It's stomach churning to see him behind the desk in the oval office

From the article:
Quote:
Two people close to the transition also said a number of Trump’s most loyal campaign aides have been alarmed by Kushner’s efforts to elbow aside anyone he perceives as a possible threat to his role as Trump’s chief consigliere. At one point during the transition, Kushner had argued internally against giving Conway a White House role, these two people said.

Because Conway operates outside of the official communications department, some aides grumble that she can go rogue when she pleases, offering her own message and promoting herself as much as the president. One suggested that Conway’s office on the second floor of the West Wing, as opposed to one closer to the Oval Office, was a sign of her diminished standing. Though Conway took over the workspace previously occupied by Valerie Jarrett, who had been*Obama’s closest adviser, the confidant dismissively predicted that Trump would rarely climb a flight of stairs.

70 year old fatty won't walk up stairs? How is this news? I'm more surprised there's not an elevator.

People like Trump legit think that Chicago is some big war zone with bullets flying all around you as you try to get from your call to Lou Malnati's.

If there were 3-5 million fraudulent votes, maybe the election should be declared null and void. We can't know if fraudulent votes didn't put Trump over the top.

You're missing that the GIF does not show the bolded. It starts with her smiling and holding that awkward smile while Trump says something to her, then turns dark as soon as he turns away. It's edited to appear as if she was in a happy mood until Trump turned and said whatever he said.

In reality, some dude who was about to pray made a cheesy joke about the rain being a blessing from God, Trump turned to his family probably to add something even cheesier like "It's true, God thinks I'm the best", everyone awkwardly laughs, then turns serious as the prayer guy gets serious again. If you want to show examples of how Melania's body language shows she hates Trump, there are plenty of real videos to choose from, and you don't even really need to do that as approximately zero people in the world believe their marriage is about love. This video in context is nothing though, and spreading it around as if it's something just gives ammo to those who would say the left wants to pick on Trump for no reason.

A video clip purportedly showing Melania Trump forcing a smile as she talked to Donald Trump during his inauguration ceremony, only to revert to a frown after he turned around, was widely circulated on social media after that event. The video clip was typically accompanied by a variety of messages claiming that Donald Trump had said something mean to her or pleas urging the First Lady to "run" from her husband. For instance, on 23 January 2017, the Facebook page "Blast Avenue" shared the video with the message: "Omg what did he say to her???? RUN MELANIA!!!!":
LOL.

Please cite whatever post led you to believe I have some kind of fantasy about this. Was it when I said "I don't think anything, that's the narrative that's been attached to that GIF clip"? Or "You're probably right that she hates him, I don't know or care either way"? Try actually reading my posts next time and make an attempt to understand them, or if that's too much for you kindly STFU because both your own interpretations of this GIF and your interpretation of my interpretation of this GIF are embarrassingly wrong.

I disagree with this statement.
Trump is not stupid enough to believe anything. Trump is a narcissistic psychopath who only believes in anything that will stroke his ego.

Remember last week when Republicans hated executive orders? Fun times.

As I recall, and I think I do pretty well, CNN was **** during the first Iraq war. They flipped a switch from reporting to spokespeople for the gov the second the war started.

I know this is Rasmussen, but this looks right:

Also, Rasmussen puts Trump's approval rating at 57%. Now that is a number only a narcissist could believe.

Uncharted waters. Good thing we can count on the GOP congress to put the country ahead of partisan politics!

He's saying something to her? How do you know? You can't see or hear him talking. Furthermore, Ivanka's body language changes too.

If he's an authoritarian figure in public life, you can be certain he is in his private life as well. It's clear that Melania defers to Trump in public. It's not just that video, there are plenty of other examples.

You can read all the Chomsky or Zedd you like, and whine about "elites", and other populist nonsense all you want. But if you promoted the "shillary" nonsense, you sent a clear message that you didn't give a **** about our collective chances of beating Trump.

I am not happy that some people might have chosen to stay at home or voted for someone other than Hillary. I am not surprised or outraged either. You can only piss on somebody's shoes so many times before they won't vote for you.

Again, my issue is with the narrative attached to the clip and the editing which removes context to support that narrative. Whoever made the clip wants people to believe Melania hates/is scared of/is abused by Trump. It doesn't matter that these things are likely true, you shouldn't need to deceptively edit what looks completely normal in context to make that point. The fact that there are other examples is all the more reason not to highlight this interaction as evidence of anything.
