I think how bad this gets really depends on whether Trump relies more on Mattis/Tillerson or Flynn on foreign matters, and on everything else whether Ivanka/Jared or Bannon have more influence. So far it seems Flynn and Bannon have had much more influence. Flynn seems particularly terrifying. There are already reports of Flynn and Mattis butting heads over Pentagon appointments and Mattis threatening to quit.

His power has been forced on him, not seized. It was basically a "yea i'll be speaker, as long as I don't have to miss my kid's baseball game for it" and only because there was absolutely noone else.

Which all leads me to believe that he'd peace out of any mess before it affected him personally or his family. He's just a nerd. To get all worked up about things going wrong or losing power or any other crazyness, I think you have to be really into the politics and power of it to begin with. I really don't think he cares about it all that much.
