Right. The jury imported beliefs about other racial history/cases and connected that with Fuhrman's racism and the fact that he discovered key pieces of evidence and didn't look much further than that.

But I don't think Fuhrman's racism and central role in investigation was necessary here. Many of the jurors likely wouldn't have trusted an all black police force to do right by their hero.

This White House Facebook post made my day. Not a single Trumpster post in the first 30 or so comments I scrolled through.

Also I've been meaning to post in this thread so i can more easily locate it without subscribing to it.

Six federal immigration agents went to the El Paso County Courthouse last week and arrested an undocumented woman who had just received a protective order alleging that she was a victim of domestic violence.
Quote:
Especially concerning is that ICE made the El Paso arrest apparently acting on a tip from IEG’s alleged abuser, Bernal said.

Should've been an open and shut case really. History of domestic abuse, his blood at the crime scene, her blood on his clothing and in his car etc. Only thing really missing was the murder weapon.

All else equal, when strict ID laws are instituted, the turnout gap between Republicans and Democrats in primary contests more than doubles from 4.3 points to 9.8 points. Likewise, the turnout gap between conservative and liberal voters more than doubles from 7.7 to 20.4 points.

By instituting strict voter ID laws, states can alter the electorate and shift outcomes toward those on the right. Where these laws are enacted, the influence of Democrats and liberals wanes and the power of Republicans grows. Unsurprisingly, these strict ID laws are passed almost exclusively by Republican legislatures.

In a total shocker Jeffrey Lord doesn't think the Russian stuff is that big of a deal. He says Regan talked to someone from Russia once.

Donald Trump / The Trump Organization has over 40 Trademark applications pending in China. One of those applications, which had been pending for a decade, was just resolved in his favor. ( I'm sure this is absolutely, positively, in no way connected to reaffirming the One China Policy or the phone call with Xi Jinping)

It looks like it was an injunction hearing, so there wouldn't be a prosecutor, but holy **** yeah no undocumented victim or witness of ANY crime is ever showing up to court in El Paso again.

So that's cool. Good for ye old rule of law.

Dunno if it's true in Texas, but prosecutors will help domestic violence vixtims get restraining orders in a lot of states.

Here's what happened when Alabama's harsh anti-immigration law, HB 56, went into effect:
Quote:
Once the federal ruling of September 29, 2011 upholding most of the law went into effect, several Alabama school districts reported a significant drop in the number of Hispanic children attending public schools. State and local officials urged immigrants to keep their children in the schools, saying the law does not bar them from attending.[14]

Industries dependent on migrant labor have been strongly impacted. Farmers have found that Americans are not willing to work under such harsh working conditions for low pay.[15] Some businesses in other industries have lost workers, including legal workers, as a result of the new immigration law.[16]

[...]On December 18, 2011, it was reported that Alabama's unemployment rate had fallen from 9.2 percent to 8.7 percent. Supporters credited the immigration law for the decrease.[19] However, Ahmad Ijaz, Director of Economic Forecasting at the University of Alabama, found that the majority of job growth in 2011 was in the automotive sector – an area of the economy where undocumented workers were uncommon. Ijaz attributed a rise in employment to the retail growth during holiday sales. Contrary to expectation, there was no job growth in sectors where Latinos typically work – construction, agriculture, and poultry processing.[20]

i think trump, earlier, thought he was doing a King Solomon type move with this isreal-palestine situation. he said, "i can carve it in two, or i can keep it whole, what do the two parties desire?"
and bibi, a lifelong friend of trump's most trusted advisor and beloved son-in-law, says, "no! do not cut it in half! please! keep it whole, and i will carry the entire burden myself."
trump hears this, and looks around the room to see he didn't invite any palestinians, and awards the lands to the people who showed to him that they deserve it
