If you only want a life that $20mm well invested can buy then you don't really need over $5mm as there isn't much that gets bought with those incremental dollars other than slightly bigger/nicer versions of the same thing.

There are different tiers of wealth that are definitely at least orders of magnitude apart. A few billion dollars is much different than $100B in what it allows for in a similar way to how a few thousand dollars in a bank account is a lot different from $100k in how it allows you to live.

Absent the actual purchasing power of those dollars there are a variety of other reasons that people want to accrue wealth and it is important to understand that these are circumstantial. For many people there is no such thing than too much and while that is often tied explicitly to greed that is not always the right attribution.
good post, thanks.

So will the intelligence community just seek to undermine Trump for awhile now?

Just like after pussygate! Trump can continuously do dumb **** until like 2 weeks before the election, then stop tweeting and rocket right up the polls.

It's about power, greed, and status driven by insecurity. It's not rational.

master wasn't necessarily naive to think that he'd retire if he had $20M. Lots of people retire early with a lot less.

that's true. I wrote my post as an explanation for people who desire vast riches and not specifically about him. sorry master.

Some are saying, after his fresh tweet insults, they will finish him.

Has anybody ever explained to Trump the concept of "The lady doth protest too much, methinks"? It seems he is completely unaware of it and that's one of the basics of strategy/tactics as it relates to managing, marketing, and operating a business.

Dude did you see that squirrel that foiled a burglary? Awesome stuff. Like they literally went with "And some stuff happened with Trump's inner-circle today... SQUIRREL!!!"

Fox wasn't as friendly to Trump in the primaries, then they realized their audience liked him more than them and fell in line.

How can a person be the most powerful man on earth and the whiniest?

So this is the part where a few GOP congresscritters, likely Graham & McCain, issue moderately sane statements while the GOP does absolutely nothing, right?
02-15-2017 , 12:55 PM
Is it dumb of me to both a) want Trump to GTFO out of the oval office and b) be scared that whoever replaces him (Pence) and the Republicans can just go ahead and do all the horrible **** they want because people will breathe a sigh of relief and see the new POTUS as "normal" and "reasonable?"

All you gotta do is watch Shark Tank to see how a lot of rich people think. Mr. Wonderful can be pretty LOL at times with how stringent he is with money. He'll turn down deals that are clearly profitable to him because it's not profitable enough for him. There's obviously nothing wrong with that (it's his money; he can do what he wants) but he seems incapable of understanding that these deals can be life changing for the other person.

That's why a guy like Trump should never have been within sniffing distance of the White House. His narcissism and greed knows no bounds. You could give him a trillion dollars tax free and it wouldn't be enough.

A lot of wishful thinking these last 2 days. I would love nothing more than for him to quit before his first term is up. But I would bet against if I had access to Ladbrokes.

As for resigning...
I don't think a man who puts his name everywhere in giant gold letters is going to resign in disgrace. He's going to deny, and fight, and never stop and who is going to stop him?

As for impeachment....
As constituted, the GOP will never impeach him. Never. It's not going to happen. We would be very lucky to get a formal reprimand of him from them.
Even if there were massive Dem voter interest going into the 2018 mid-terms, the district gerrymandering will still be in place. It's going to be hard enough to get a majority in the House to get the impeachment going.

Then you need 2/3 of the Senate to convict, and typically only 1/3 of the Senate is up for grabs in any given election year.

So frustrating. Something that happened in 2005 was a BIG DEAL to them for like a week, then it became old news/locker room talk/"Did you read Curt Schilling's FB post? Makes you think."
