The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

Meh, if you want real political change, don't focus on impeaching Trump. Focus on weakening him and winning elections in 2018 and 2020.

Trump getting impeached basically kills the GOP though, it's on them and their deplorable voters.

Seems to me that the dominoes are falling pretty quickly already. If some actual taped conversations get leaked, then the process could accelerate further. Strategically, does it make more sense for the GOP to delay things, or is it better to get Trump out sooner rather than later?

Here's Harry Reid trying to get Comey to release it to the public back at the end of October.

In my communications with you and other top officials in the national security community, it has become clear that you possess explosive information about close ties and coordination between Donald Trump, his top advisors, and the Russian government — a foreign interest openly hostile to the United States, which Trump praises at every opportunity. The public has a right to know this information. I wrote to you months ago calling for this information to be released to the public. There is no danger to American interests from releasing it. And yet, you continue to resist calls to inform the public of this critical information.

This is the question. If I'm Pence, I'm going to distance myself from this trainwreck pronto. Right now he seems to be clean but Bannon is certainly going to throw him under the bus when things start getting hairy for TRUMP.

Is there any way to watch CNN w/o a cable subscription?

What dominoes are falling? There is a reason the impeachment markets haven't moved more than a few cents on predictit. To impeach him you are going to need a hell of a lot more than Trump staffers speaking to Russia. You are going to need direct proof of some kind of traitorous activity. If that existed prior to the election I'm guessing it would have come out especially considering BO had knowledge of it prior to the election.

How long before the White House runs out of trains to wreck?

I just heard that too and thought about it. What is he supposed to do though? He can't exactly declare the election illegitimate or declare a state of emergency and stay in office. People would revolt. He also can't really come out and charge Trump because half the country would decry it as partisan politics. He really doesn't have a choice other than to let Trump hang himself unless I am missing another angle here. What else could he have done?

Yeah, but every time I think about it I remember the way Trump debased and humiliated Rubio and Cruz, and how meekly they fell to their knees for him afterward.

Even more, there have been articles posted on this forum from two former conservative radio guys who talked about how the conservative leadership [Edit: correction--conservative media] has created a monster they can no longer control. Nothing will make the spineless Republicans in Congress/Senate vote to impeach without overwhelming pressure from the base, and I just don't think that will happen.

It kind of seems that's where this is going. Knocking down the people and then the details will spill out at some point by those people or the people in possession of transcripts. Perhaps I'm too hopeful.

Republican Senators don't need support for their base to impeach him. They just need to do the right thing.

Spoiler:
lol at this ever happening

There are still Republicans talking about obamacare repeal-only. These are the dumbasses that will go down with the ship.

Just google "live cnn stream" and you can find a stream of CNN or MSNBC or Fox News or virtually any channel.

I mean of course we all hope that there is some insane bombshell that will end this fiasco but it's not likely because if it existed certainly we would have heard about it months ago when it was discovered. If Trump is really a traitor they would have released proof and not allowed him to win the election or become president. The fact that his staff had conversations with Russia is not a damning fact. At least one member of Obamas staff did the same thing. You need proof of something illegal or treasonous that ties directly to Trump and I think that's unlikely based on the fact it's been sat on for literally months.
