The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

Jake Tapper has been doing a pretty elite job as of late.

it is easy to picture Trump tweeting that sitting next to Velma, who is holding a mask of the face of Mr. Withers the carnival operator

As so many in Twitter already pointed out, Trump asked Russia to hack Clinton's emails. A bit too late to be whining about leaks.

yeah people who spent months F5ing wikileaks' twitter feed are FURIOUS ABOUT LEAKS IMO #pizzagate

When does the criticism-free grace period end, awval? Two months and we're allowed to question His Royal Trumpiness?

Three weeks! THREE WEEKS! Doesn't the man get a chance to sharpen his pencils, attend some training, learn a little on the job? It's like Trump humbly argued on the campaign trail, he'll be ready for the job by 2019, until then just root for America. Don't you want what's best for America?

(And he let Flynn resign rather than having him arrested as well.)
When the absolute most charitable interpretation of your actions is gross incompetence--nay, outright negligence--it's a pretty bad situation.

The important variable here is how much evidence exists that has yet to be uncovered, connecting him and others deeper in this mess. The interesting thing is that Trump and his team are almost definitely not the people with the best grasp on what evidence exists, and who knows about it.

As an American who has been living outside the US for years, this is absolutely horrifying.

But the reality is that this is merely the continuation of Dubya and Obama's policies that expanded the powers of CBP at the expense of our constitutional rights. If Trump further enhances their powers like he tried to do with the Muslim ban, they'll probably take me to a dark room and torture me by the time I come back if I do at all.

Please specify what Obama policies expanded the powers of the CBP at the expense of our constitutional rights.

I can't speak to that point directly but Obama was pretty terrible at expanding the power of the president, cracking down on whistle blowers, and generally curtailing civil liberties.

He wasn't exactly a libertarian.

Seems like if Putin's goal is just chaos, fine. He's winning a troll war. US is clearly trolled right now.

If he's actually trying to get the Trump Admin to get the US to transparently become far more amenable to Russian interests, the game seems harder now.
I am scared, because now the Russians may want some kind of elaborate "terrorist attack" on American soil, it would take all the eyes off their ties to the white house for a while. It would also "prove" Trump correct in this whole safety of America thing and empower his base while shutting up the opposition

Are there a lot of non-white libertarians out there?

Why?

Good job by Lauer. This breakdown of Conway's MO is trending on yt.

A supreme court judge or a comedian would be a good interviewer. Some who doesn't put up with ****, or someone who doesn't give a ****.

Admittedly the abuse of power by CBP agents is largely the result of their own policy shifts but the reality is that they can be changed or reined in at the discretion of the President through executive orders. As Snowden proved through his revelations, Obama continued to expand the power of the surveillance state though at a slower rate than Dubya.

I know you guys get moist thinking about Obama and his legacy but he wasn't remotely close to perfect. This lack of action to protect our rights under Obama's rule makes him as guilty as those who enacted the changes under his watch.

I am extremely bothered by the increase in harassment I deal with every time I enter (and now leave) America. This is not how a free country is supposed to operate. I feel even worse for non-citizens entering America, many of whom have horrifying experiences in comparison to my own.

Kellyanne Conway is approaching Trump levels of word-salad incoherence in these interviews.

Remember the vote of confidence Flynn got right before he left? Priebus got a similar TRUMP vote of confidence...now this

Obama's expansion of the power of the executive branch is in part what has allowed Trump to pass these horrifying EOs that hurt everybody not on the board of a Fortune 500 company.

I don't see anything unconstitutional in that link. We may disagree with his expansion of border security, but it isn't unconstitutional. Expansion of the surveillance state is not the same thing as border security.

scapegoat definition. A person or group that is made to bear blame for others. According to the Old Testament, on the Day of Atonement, a priest would confess all the sins of the Israelites over the head of a goat and then drive it into the wilderness, symbolically bearing their sins away.
