Now he has a total lack of self-awareness, difficulty keeping on track, and difficulty following anything complicated or that takes more than a short time.

I know a lot of people around here just think "duh, he's 70", but a lot of 70 year olds are plenty sharp.
A few weeks ago on NPR, they had a mental health guy explaining (it wasn't in the context of Trump) that mental function declines pretty steadily throughout life rather than sharply in old age. Trump is obviously functional, despite his occasional incoherence. It could be that he just started from a below-average place mentally, and then experienced the usual decline, maybe exacerbated by his lack of intellectual curiosity.

Tbh, he doesn't strike me as too different from your average racist great uncle. Those qualities become magnified to an incredible degree though when you see them in the President of the United States.

I did, I had even had lunch with him by that point. He called me 'the buddha's bodyguard', true story.

Can we all agree now that we were dumb for ever thinking that. For better or worse the US federal government is a ridiculously intricate labyrinth that requires actual training and experience to function in.

Was probably my biggest issue with people saying "but Clinton". The floor of a Clinton presidency was gridlock and a mediocre extension of Obama's presidency. That was literally the worst case scenario. But at least the people in charge would know how to turn door knobs and how to turn the lights on and off.

And let's not be tempted as there are some extremely bright people who we think would do well in that environment but please future me read this and know it won't work. Instead we have to work on better choosing and molding those capable of operating in the system. Not just F it let's bring in the clown car and see how many people get out.

I have seen some claim hysteria and overreaction. I only have my lifetime experience and those near enough. So let's say even though I was a baby I could go back to Nixon. This entire thing is unprecedented and none of it is in a good way.

What's worse is the standing of the country and average citizen was and is in relatively good standing, even coming on the heels of a massive recession.

Tl;dr WAAF
No you weren't wrong. But a blithering idiot racist narcissist isn't the right outsider.

Right and I think a lot of people in those red parts of blue states would just seek refuge in a red state rather than being circled in and crushed in a violent civil war.

I don't think British or US intelligence (the British supplied some of the intercepts) ever believed it was a one-way thing.

What? This is false. The man was a delusional loon, but he had passion and zeal and worked his ass off every day for decades.

'Hitler': From The Murderous To The Mundane
Quote:
On describing Hitler as a lazy man

"If you read about Mussolini or Stalin or some of these other great monsters of history, they were at it all the time, that they were getting up in the morning very early. They were physically very active. They didn't eat lunch. They didn't waste their time, and you would assume that Hitler was the same type of person.

"He wasn't. ... He stayed up all hours during the night talking and playing music and watching films. He got up very, very late. It was unusual for him to have stirred before 12 o'clock midday. He lazed about and he'd actually, most of his days, even when he was the chancellor of Germany, he did very, very little.

"Even some of the great ideas which we think are essentially Nazi, like wishing to eliminate children who were born with defects of one kind or another, he didn't dream that up. The doctors came to him and suggested this and he said, 'OK, why not go ahead with it?' "

i wonder how his npd will manifest itself the longer he is in office.. especially with everyone around him endlessly sucking up to him, combined with the fact that the military is now forced to salute him. he must take it as constant vindication for all the terrible things he has done.

I love Rachel Maddow.

Why does stuff like this not get more official traction? Is the USA discovering that its checks and balances are not sufficient when someone evil is in power?

There have been at least 5 Canadians turned away from USA who are from Morocco and have no ties to the 7 countries in the order.

I had a trifecta bet on the FBI, Secret Service and local cops as 'most likely to be Trump's SS', e.g., paramilitary officers who take the law into their own hands to satisfy their bloodlust, desire to dominate, and urge to flatter the leader.

But man CBP has to be the favorite now after opening as huge longshots. Looking forward to watching Trump appoint CBP as his personal body-guards, CBP cavalry patrolling the streets for illegals all over America, and CBP Ahnenerbe scientists conducting archeological expeditions into NASCAR speedways to determine the true origins of the white American identity.

5ive I know the feeling. I ran into DJT twice in the early 1990s, one skateboarding at Bader Field, once at the Taj in 1993 following a boxing fight just feet away talking with some suits (with Marla Maples next to him, DAT ASS). Lots of other celebrities same deal, Atlantic City is pretty small really, but without smartphones back then a story is all you got out of it.

Are there any USA#1 carriers who offer Huawei phones, or is this just confirmation that BS is an overseas astroturfer?

In the Obama administration, someone like Burr would have been barred by ethics rules from taking a job at an agency that he had lobbied.

In the Trump administration, Burr now has a top job at the Labor Department.

Burr is the first publicly known example of a former lobbyist who was able to take a job in the government as a result of President Donald Trump’s watering down of ethics rules in place during the Obama administration.

As a candidate, Trump regularly railed against lobbyists and led crowds in chants of “Drain the swamp!” But as president, Trump last month signed an executive order that weakened significant aspects of the Obama ethics policy, including scrapping a ban on lobbyists joining agencies they had recently lobbied.
