Like, we might be on the edge of a failed democracy, but it's not because they are ****ing with the tied elections.
The fact that districts are gerrymandered in a way that a 10 point victory results in a virtual tie of house seats seem far worse on the end-of-democracy-scale than how a committee rules on a single ballot.

Agree, the tie deal in and of itself is just a bad beat story. But the game overall is rigged by gerrymandering and voter suppression.

Any data on how many states are obvious rigged R that would likely be D (either US house representation or their own legislatures?)

republicans blatantly stole an election. its not as bad as the bush gore swindle but at least there was some cover there.
01-05-2018 , 05:05 PM
That just isn't true.
01-05-2018 , 05:10 PM
I mean, I guess its just a coincidence that the ballots always seem to go the republicans way

UK Single Payer System Removes funding for 25 Cancer Treatment Drugs

Quote:
Eight thousand cancer patients are likely to have their lives cut short following a decision to withdraw NHS funding for 25 treatments.
Medication which offers a last chance to patients with cancer a year - including those with breast, prostate and bowel disease - will no longer be funded by the NHS, under plans to scale back spending from April.
Experts said that around two thirds of those who seek NHS treatment for advanced bowel cancer are likely to face an earlier death because of the decision.

UK Single Payer Sysyem - Smokers and the Obese Banned from Getting Surgery
Quote:
The NHS will ban patients from surgery indefinitely unless they lose weight or quit smoking, under controversial plans drawn up in Hertfordshire.

The restrictions - thought to be the most extreme yet to be introduced by health services - immediately came under attack from the Royal College of Surgeons.

Its vice president called for an “urgent rethink” of policies which he said were “discriminatory” and went against the fundamental principles of the NHS.

Nothing below board happened in VA-94, and Simonds can still request another recount anyway. Direct your conspiracy theories to VA-28, where 147 voters in one of the most liberal precincts got the wrong ballot, and Republicans are arguing that's just the way the ball bounces.

Dems picked up a net 10 votes in the recount.

Revote seems more democratic than coin flipping.

I'd also like to know this.

Yup, in America we ration health care based on wealth and social status. Much more fair.

The bolded suggests you think the UK has a left wing government. This is not the case FYI

Can't stress this enough.
The UK Health Secretary Jeremy "rhyming slang" Hunt co-authored a book that called for the NHS to be replaced by an insurance system.

They took an obviously garbage ballot that never should have been counted and decided **** it, and **** you for asking questions. It counts. Tie, bitches! And they got away with it.

"Death Panels", and placing restrictions on care to smokers and the morbidly obese, are concepts that don't really bother me too much.
01-05-2018 , 05:55 PM
Yeah I'm totes cool with telling morbidly obese & smokers to **** off when it comes to federally funded health care. Programs to help people stop becoming those things? Absolutely. Breaking the bank for people who decided to eat pounds of junk food every day and smoking 2 packs of cigs for 30 years? Meh, play stupid games win stupid prizes.
01-05-2018 , 05:56 PM
Firstly it's the tories who have been in charge of the NHS for the past decade not anyone remotely left wing, thats why it's in such a state. Second it's amusing that the worst case scenario of the NHS (having to pay for your own treatment) is the US model that you are seemingly comparing favourably. Like, I agree, it sucks that we can't provide more healthcare. Lets tax the rich more and sort it out.
01-05-2018 , 05:59 PM
adios: "wow denying obese smokers, nice health care system you've got there. you should charge money and deny way more people"

the ideal right wing health care system has a wealthy obese smoker receiving excellent health care while responsible people without a lot of money die, or, who cares? not our problem, see u in heaven.
