Why would Russia want to help him? He's no longer of any use to them. If anything Putin would probably have him killed rather than risk chance he spills the beans at some point.

Probably - was just saying if he showed up in Russia asking for protection, I don't think Putin is going to provide it and there is a greater risk (even though small) that he might just take the easy opportunity and make him disappear.

I may be ponied here, but I'm reading the charges against Papadopolous, and it looks to me like Mueller can prove collusion. IANAL, but he is charging him with false statements about the campaign colluding with Russia... If he can prove those are lies... he can prove collusion.
