Go look at the 2016 election map by county.

There are plenty of double Obama, then Trump voters in the Midwest.

You tend to see this after elections. Exit polls will be pretty close to the outcome, but polls after a clear winner is known will see a lot of people who voted for the loser claiming they picked the winner.
