And the ACLU dates to 1920 and was founded by anti-fascists like Helen Keller on American anti-fascist values about free speech.

There's a bizarre chip on the English shoulders around here having to do with your fascist government making it illegal for people to speak freely.
You're probably jesting around, but the American media used to refer to the British government (regardless of which party was in power) as the Socialist Government of Great Britain (this being relative to how far right wing all American governments are, presumably), so calling it a fascist government is a novel take, particularly when you consider who the latest inhabitant of the WH is.

The right-left thing is confusing and a lot of people accuse the left of being fascists. The fact is fascist and socialist are different and not opposite and it's quite possible to have elements of both. You have awesome socialist elements like your health care that makes many of us jealous (I am about to make my $850 insurance payment just now). But your laws limiting freedom of expression fit well enough in the category of fascist for the purposes of a little forum mudslinging. But, generally lacking the elements like a cultish devotion to a charasmatic leader, hyper-aggressive military and violence in general, it would be better described as authoritarian, which is at least an essential element of fascism and sometimes coincident with socialism.

I can buy codeine over the counter as long as the pharmacist believes I'm not a junkie. Tough to procure an abortion, though, but that's a gap both sides seem to want to narrow.

Not sure if it's the case, but the impression I get is prescription drugs are a huge issue in America..

Drs on the payroll to prescribe addictive painkillers for pretty much everything. Or is that overhyped?
10-14-2017 , 08:22 PM
pretty sure thats a big part of the "opiod crisis"
10-14-2017 , 08:30 PM
Sure, but a prescription is required, is my point, or at least AFAIK.

In 2014 enough oxy was produced for sale in the US to script every adult in the country for a month.

Why is that so far fetched? And if not Americans than who? Sauce? Pretty sure his coaching is too pricey for a ham and egger.

Those look like some beautiful, soft towels.

the little ****ing things man

i still cant believe he'd have to say like 3 amazing adjectives about the ****ing cheap towels he was throwing, like its just the most absurd example of how he tries to embellish everything and how his egomania/pathological lying shows up in everything he says and does

What claim do you think you're refuting here?

Lol. What claim do you think I'm refuting? You ever add to a discussion without debating?

Prescription drug issue in US>>Opioids crisis>>prescription needed>>too much produced to possibly be legally prescribed. Just topical.

Fighting is fun though.

Yet when I had the worst sore throat of my life and hadn't slept in 72 hours (albeit in Canada) because I would punch walls every time I tried to swallow my own saliva I couldn't get a prescription from a walk in clinic until the 3rd doctor I saw because I decided to bring in my half filled 3 litre spit jar from the past 3 days into the meeting.

I don't think he was refuting that prescriptions are required, just stating that the amount of oxy produced indicates that the bar to acquire it must have been pretty low, superfluous even.

Probably qualifies for an oxy script.

Get with the times, guys. Oxy scripts are really hard to get now. That's why we have a heroin (and fentanyl) epidemic.

yup. my wife was given two days worth of percocet after her recent C section and told to come back if she needed more

I'm not concerned. Jared is on it.

Honestly, it sounds a bit like you're bristling at the suggestion that codeine is more freely available here, and want to emphasise the opiate problem in the US to counter the implication that Irish people enjoy a freedom Americans don't. Like, that sounds silly and all, but given how the conversation began, I can't think what else you'd be doing. The news has been full of opiate epidemic stuff for at least the last two years, it's not like you think you're giving me new information.

Sure, I get that. But ferries to Liverpool aren't in too short supply either. I'm not about to bring that up in defence of Ireland's record on reproductive rights. I'll just take it on the chin and say yeah, we suck on that.

Jennifer Lopez just said on live TV during the Puerto Rico benefit concert that there are "some messes you can't clean up with paper towels."

Expect a tweet.
