A very high percentage of Republicans are full-on brainwashed. They will believe anything Fox News tells them.

And Fox was already trying to play down the Nazism before today. Now that Daddy has chimed in, they will undoubtedly go further.

Sadly, I think this is only the beginning. Trump making these statements is 100% going to push more people into Nazism. People on the edge will see this implicit blessing from Trump and they will see it get backed by Fox or Breitbart or AM radio or whatever propaganda they consume. And they'll move over the edge. And some people who aren't on the edge currently will be moved to the edge.

Not sure how far this will all go, but I would be shocked if Charlottesville is the last major flash point.

That was some old Cold War propaganda. Stalin, literally worse than Hitler, was a pretty common thought among Americans. FWIW, my wife is a dual-citizen Russian who grew up in Moscow in the 80s, and she absolutely thought Stalin killed tens of millions more people than hitler.
