The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

Took about a month from what I recall and I do think it was after sanctions were signed.

ugh liberals who pretend trump's comments are anything other than an obvious (and decently funny) joke are pretty out of ****ing touch.

You are a moron. Period.
08-12-2017 , 12:22 AM
Don't both of you actually have PhDs?

This should be a good fight.
08-12-2017 , 12:27 AM
I know DS likes to believe that getting a PhD is this like amazing feat only people of his brilliance could get, but it really isn't.

Fighting with someone using the "orange nazi is obviously joking" line would be tantamount to arguing with a monkey over thrown feces.

I'll pass.

It's not a joke buddy. He's really that ****ing dumb.
08-12-2017 , 12:37 AM
as poker players, we can look beyond what he's saying and even how he's saying it and focus on his actions. and what we see here is yet another example of trump softplaying putin. and why? even now, post-sanctions, he still can't criticize him publicly, and has resorted to *jokingly* kissing putin's ass in public. and btw there wasn't some *real* statement issued later on to tell the world trump's non-joke response to russia cutting our diplomatic footprint in half
08-12-2017 , 12:38 AM
Lol, you guys legit think he was making a sincere attempt to thank Putin? Come the **** off. The entire structure of the comment supports Trump's assertion that it was clearly sarcastic.

And we don't need him to be giving a sincere thank you to use this as yet more evidence that he is a drooling moron. Making a joke in this spot is beyond stupid. He's an idiot, but there is no reason to think he is lying about it being sarcastic here. Eviscerate him instead along the lines of SCreaminAsian.

Trump isn't being sarcastic there--at best he's just being a dick.

itt we learn anything can be said ostensibly joking at it has NO DEEPER MEANING AND I SAID GOOD DAY SIR.

Trump attacks anyone and everyone who looks at him funny. Congress sanctions Putin. Trump attacks congress. Medvedev calls Trump out on twitter as weak. Trump silent. Putin expels 755 diplomats. Trump "jokingly" thanks Putin.

OMG my sides. So funny I forgot all context and everything Trump *didn't* say.

2) A trial balloon for the base's reaction to parting with Congress.

Things are really heating up fast with Mueller, and the MSM will soon have to merge head on with implications against Trump. They can't keep playing dumb much longer.
Or just 3. Trump is a idiot who doesnt think before acting.

Everything would seem to point to Trump being sarcastic and if he is, he really needs to work on his voice inflection, because if you asked me if Trump is being sarcastic in the clip I'd 100% say he's not.

around 1:10 in Trump's August 11 press conference he's asked if he was being sarcastic, he says yes, yet he ends his answer by reiterating "but we have reduced payroll very substantially."
08-12-2017 , 01:31 AM
Are there other instances of trump "joking" while never smiling?
08-12-2017 , 01:37 AM
Trump was not exactly joking but he wasn't actually thanking Putin either. It was similar to what I was doing when, on this forum, I "thanked" the nitwits who painted a swastika on my door since they unwittingly caused Sue to make a new friend. I wanted to annoy them if they somehow read the post plus justify not going to great lengths to get revenge. The difference though, between my words and Trump's, is that I really was thankful that the incident (in its totality) happened, while Trump was probably just pretending to save face.

I didn't think that Weekend Update bit would be funny. I was wrong.

Trump made a joke. If I wasn't horrified by it, I would laugh. It would be a sarcastic laugh though.

First I've heard of this Sklansky incident. That's not funny at all.

Trump isn't any one thing all the time. Yes, clearly he's an idiot. But he also uses calculated attacks, against convenient people or groups, at the appropriate times, so that it's always plausibly deniable each instance, but more than just coincidence over a larger sample. When it comes to certain domains, like marketing or brainwashing or deflecting via media manipulation, Trump can also be slick as a fox.

Tiny Cliffs: Sometimes Trump is a stupid idiot and sometimes he's a useful idiot. It depends on if there's a puppeteer, and who's pulling the strings at the time.

I thought it was a joke in print, but when I heard him, his delivery lacked sarcasm, laughter or a smile.

That said, liberals are taking the bait and missing the meat of the story. The joke or not a joke is the bait, and we will never win an argument with a Trumper on that in their mind.

However, two things also jump out.

1. He thanked Putin for laying them off and a few times made reference to Putin laying them off or letting them go... Which legitimately makes me wonder if Trump thinks Russia says, "Hey, US, we want you to put X people in this embassy," and we then pay them. Like, he's acting like Putin controls our staffing. This could be utter incompetence, a freudian slip of his Russian-scandalized tongue, or just poor repeated word choice. But there are legit questions off of this.

2. He has still yet to ever say anything bad about Putin or criticize him that I'm aware of. Ever. For anything. From, "You think our country's so innocent?" to today, Trump is 0-for-his-political-life on criticizing Putin. Maybe that's not a smoking gun, but it's a pretty significant fact and it's a horse we should beat to death.

Re: Sarcasm/Joking

What good is being sarcastic if the message going out isn't taken that way? Kinda defeats the whole purpose when you have to announce your intent only after being questioned the next day.

In other words, since he obviously can't convey a message properly, it doesn't matter whether he was joking or being sarcastic or he's just a **********.

EDIT: WTF cucksucker is censored now? This site is taking away all our rights, just like Trump.

Hmmm...interesting thought. Can we get Dems or influential people to issue a statement?

"Patriotic Americans and Democracies around the world: Things have gone beyond our control. In order to protect our way of life, we are calling on you to speak up whenever President Trump is deceiving the public."

If that's too political to be viewed, it can also be achieved covertly on the net before we lose that freedom too. Let the people rise up for truth in a gaslit country.

The public destruction of evidence is showing through the cracks now too? Expect a lot more (understatement) if the lawyers are entering full cover-up mode.

I'd dare to say that it's inappropriate for a President to comment sarcastically on such a matter.

It actually is a dare. We're well past inappropriate when it comes to Trump. He set the boundary at legal/illegal a long time ago, even having already crossed that line many times himself a longer time ago.

Anyway, if one were to apply an alternate strategy to all the war talk, it would be to force the investigation of the whole Trump admin to speed up out of urgency, therefore "securing" a much smaller, less accurate case against everyone.
