Trump says we've "renovated" or nuclear arsenal. I'm sure that includes plenty of gold leafing.

I talked with my wife today about the best options for us if Seattle gets nuked. (We are about 15 miles east, well out of the blast radius of a direct hit, but I'm not able to find a ton of info on just how far the incidental damage would carry. Our plan of action is to get into the car and try to get over the cascades before the roads become clogged upon hearing that Seattle is the target of a launched missle.)

This is a conversation that happened in real life. Holy ****.

Depends on the size of the nuke, but 15 miles is 12 miles outside the damage area of the WWII era nukes, doubtful they are much bigger than that. Fallout might be a problem though...

Modern American hydrogen bombs are much bigger than fat man and little boy, but I don't know what North Korean ones are like.

I found this link from an article on Business Insider: http://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/.

I live in Baltimore, and it looks like if the wind was blowing north from DC, a strike on DC would leave me in the path of fallout that could reach north of even here.

But it would be a (relatively) narrow band of fallout, so basically you want to get away from the strike, but perhaps more importantly you want to travel perpendicular to the direction of the wind until you're out of the fallout path.

Be happy, the real target around Seattle is Bangor sub base, 15ish miles WNW of Seattle. Don't head east imo. Prevailing winds come from the west and south. Go south if you can.

Head south but good luck on I-405, WA 167, or I-5. Commuter lanes until Pierce Co I guess.

north is canada, I'd go that way.

Trump's response to Putin kicking out the diplomats? Thanks!

Would the mountains help prevent any weather pattern related issues? My thought was east over the range and then south past Yakima

I caught Lord's interview on Bill Maher's show a while back, he seemed like a consummate gentleman and even Maher remarked about how he has never heard a single person say anything bad about Lord personally. It was striking considering how loathsome he is on any Trump related topic.

I'm not bullish on North Korean technology, but anyway by the time you hear about it enough people will have heard about it that the freeways will be jammed. Get a motorcycle.

Great idea. Extra gas would be nice or you will have to fight a one legged dude to the death for it. Get 2000 landjaegers they taste good.

North Korea is not the USSR. The only rationale for their targets is as a deterrence to invasion. There's no hope for them of eliminating our threat to them. Insofar as they can target anything, I expect them to target population centers and military bases in Japan or South Korea.
