I guess this was the announcement Trump was going to make tonight.

I am not a lawyer, but I'm like 99% sure that you can reveal what's happening if you're called to testify, but not as a lawyer, juror, etc. That's how we usually learn about them.

They are drawn from regular citizens from within the federal district the grand jury is being held in.

That's correct, however there could be other statutes at play that prevent witnesses from revealing what they've testified about. (For example if it involves classified information).

Trump big announcement is a reality show to determine who gets to sit on the grand jury investigating him. Made a deal with Mueller that the grand jury will be made up exclusively of West Virginia coal miners.

James Conley Justice Jr. (born April 27, 1951) is an American coal mining and agriculture businessman and politician who is the 36th and current Governor of West Virginia since January 2017. Owner of over 50 companies, including The Greenbrier, a luxury resort, Justice is one of the few billionaires from the state of West Virginia.
Having a hard time imagining a Constitutional Amendment the GOP would get through to the states that a guy like this would oppose, regardless of what the letter after his name is.

A sort of here's your healthcare you ungrateful **** - as you would a child.
The most stridently anti-Trump Americans are not "the left" who would favor a more socialized healthcare system. That group seems to be relatively indifferent and/or clueless about policy. So this strategy would certainly fail.

So Trump gives Manchin a cabinet post, newly GOP governor appoints a Trumper as the new Senator from WV, and Trumpcare wins 51-50?

New attitude from the WH: We were not aware that a Grand Jury was enpaneled. We have been cooperating fully with the investigation since June 1st, because we want this over with as soon as possible.

1. investigation is larger in scope than the best-case scenarios for Trump
2. investigation is broader than Michael Flynn
sounds like good news for democracy.

Thanks you!

I've never been summoned for jury duty, I'm overdue. I would take the $100/day or whatever it is to get in on this.

It's worth noting that if the plan was to appoint a Democrat from a state with a Republican governor to a cabinet post, there would be many others, including several facing re-election in 2018 (Tester, Donnelly, McCaskill, Heitkamp come to mind)... There are also a few from states that tend to be reliably blue at the federal level, so those governors may be hesitant to subvert the will of their electorate for their own future electoral purposes.

Is the calling of a grand jury a certain sign that Mueller is seeking criminal charges in connection with the Russian probe?
