The same way the RU oligarchs are doing it now with real estate. When you come into the country with cash or checks or a bank wire, you need a place to store it.

In what way? It's confirmed that Russian oligarchs have been using loopholes in the law to bring dirty money into the US and cleaning it here.

Smart oligarchs launder through failing NJ Nba teams.

I'll give Trump credit for this. This should have ended a while ago

Quote:
Trump wanted to know why the United States had backed Zenki if its members are extremists. The issue was discussed at length with senior intelligence officials, and no good answers were forthcoming, according to people familiar with the conversations. After learning more worrisome details about the CIA’s ghost war in Syria—including that U.S.-backed rebels had often fought alongside extremists, among them al Qaeda’s arm in the country—the president decided to end the program altogether.

This is the worst case of life loop I've ever seen. He's a walking broken record.

The more Trump's mind becomes known, the less confidence we have in his ability to handle anything big at all. Such an awkward phenomenon for a president.

MR. BAKER: So can – what’s – I mean, you’ve outlined the principles of tax reform. Can you tell us what you – you know, what you want to achieve fundamentally in tax reform?

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Sure. I want to –

MR. BAKER: What are the – what are the main goals?

PRESIDENT TRUMP: I want to achieve growth. We’re the highest-taxed nation in the world, essentially, you know, of the size. But we’re the highest-taxed nation in the world. We have – nobody knows what the number is. I mean, it used to be, when we talked during the debate, 2 ½ trillion (dollars), right, when the most elegant person – right? I call him Mr. Elegant. I mean, that was a great debate. We did such a great job. But at that time I was talking $2 ½ trillion. I guess it’s 5 trillion (dollars) now. Whatever it is, it’s a lot more.
What in the **** is this guy blabbering about here

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Well, you know, we’re going for 15 (percent). We’re going to see, and we’ll see. But, you know, I don’t want to say anything about negotiation. I mean, we are asking for 15 percent, and we think we’re going to grow tremendously.

So I deal with foreign countries, and despite what you may read I have unbelievable relationships with all of the foreign leaders. They like me. I like them. You know, it’s amazing. So I’ll call, like, major – major countries, and I’ll be dealing with the prime minister or the president. And I’ll say, how are you doing? Oh, don’t know, don’t know, not well, Mr. President, not well. I said, well, what’s the problem? Oh, GDP 9 percent, not well. And I’m saying to myself, here we are at like 1 percent, dying, and they’re at 9 percent and they’re unhappy. So, you know, and these are like countries, you know, fairly large, like 300 million people. You know, a lot of people say – they say, well, but the United States is large. And then you call places like Malaysia, Indonesia, and you say, you know, how many people do you have? And it’s pretty amazing how many people they have. So China’s going to be at 7 or 8 percent, and they have a billion-five, right? So we should do really well.

Do you think there was ever a point in Trump's life where he had a better grasp on the details of the projects he was overseeing? I used to think that he had to have at some point in his life, but now I don't think so. I'm fairly certain that this whole act he goes through where he babble incoherently while inserting vaguely relevant phrases is how he has always operated.

And he's been able to become a billionaire doing it.

Stock market at all time highs, property values up, unemployment down. Clearly we need a major overhaul of the tax code. Who knows what could happen? It could even be a boat!

Depending on where you start in life I think this may be a relatively trivial achievement given a little luck occasionally.

TIL Jefferson Beauregard Flake is very concerned imo.

Crunching some #s, let's say you inherit $10M, hope to average 5%/year on your investments, and say you're gonna spend 2.5% of your net worth on living expenses every year. You wind up with $300M after 50 years.

Now bump that return up to 7%, which seems reasonable for a 50-year risk tolerance - and you're a little over $1B.

Now assume you've invested primarily in NYC-area real estate the last 50 years and tell me why you're not a billionaire many times over.

Also, the best part of the full WSJ interview:

Quote:
MR. BAKER: But we can’t expect any more staff changes in the immediate – in the immediate future?

PRESIDENT TRUMP: No, I don’t think so.

MR. BAKER: No?

PRESIDENT TRUMP: But I’m very happy with Anthony. I think Anthony is going to do amazing.

Besides the US there are exactly two countries in the world with more than 300 million people. Indonesia is number 4 with 264 million. Malaysia has 32.
