My wife and I have been having the same conversation. We clear seven figures if we sell our home, now. There's also a fairly strong savings/retirement portfolio. Between us, we hold five passports, including Canada and New Zealand. The plan was always to semi-retire to New Zealand in ten years.
We both love our work, and we love our home. We aren't ready to retire. Our work is such that doing similar in New Zealand would be worth about 1/3 of that here. Do we flee this presently toxic environment, or stay?
I have to admit I am not prepared for this. Not emotionally, nor intellectually. Last March, I confidently re-assured our New Zealand friends that Trump had NO CHANCE. I laugh at how terribly short-sighted my assumptions. I'm not weeping, yet. Perhaps I'm still in denial.
