Donald Trump on Wednesday defended a tweet that he posted three years ago that stated the estimated number of unreported sexual assaults in the military and then mused: "What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?"

"Well, it is, it is a correct tweet," Trump said when asked about the tweet during NBC News' Commander-in-Chief Forum in New York on Wednesday night. "There are many people that think that that's absolutely correct ... Well, well, it's happening, right? And, by the way, since then, it's gotten worse."

So are they going to discharge currently serving transgender people? Or not allow new ones to join?

I get that it would be nice to defend the human dignity of transgender people and all, but there are unfortunately bigger fish to fry here. If you allow Trump to use ****ting on some minority group or other as a distraction, then that will become his go-to strategy and he will keep doing it.

The US will never stop having black people in the military, specifically enlisted soldiers as fodder on the front lines dying with other poor disenfranchised young people.

Now keeping them from becoming officers is something I can see them shooting for.

Before his statement, New transgender were not allowed to join. Also if you come out as trans during basic you get kicked out. If you are already in the Army and come out as trans you could stay. Also, if you were going to West Point and you came out as trans, you don't get kicked out but could not commission as an officer. Would just become a E-4 upon graduation.

If he really wants to be in the military, I'd encourage him to enlist, but not expect to be given any special treatment. There are sex-based restrictions in the military, and he's a biological female, so plan accordingly.
