Lifting sanctions relating to certain transactions with the FSB. Incredible.
To me this is way worse then just dropping all sanctions, which would have been horrible.

This seems super duper shady.

Yeah and the legalese is enough to throw off the vast majority of Americans from being interested in it at all.

With Sklansky here. DJT is insecure and egotistical - certainly does not like being overshadowed.

Aged, fat president trump tired, suffering fatigue after 2 weeks on the job. Sad!

Trump is already trying to pull a Gulf of Tonkin in Iran?

Plus they're bringing up the money Obama "gave" Iran to try to distract with other sanction lifting.

While true, I'm not sure if Time calling Bannon's power out will have the right impact on Trump, especially after their "Meltdown" and "Total Meltdown" covers before the election. Much easier to soothe his ego by dismissing them as "fake news" while reassuring him that all the decisions being made are Trump's.

Now if Fox had a blurb about it, that might shake some tail feathers.

Trump is so shook by implications that Steve Bannon runs the country that it's reported he is handling the issue by turning to his most trusted adviser, Steve Bannon.

I don't get it. People knew what they were getting when they voted for him. It's not as if the Muslims ban, Mexican wall, sabre rattling with Iran and childish tweets came out of nowhere.

Was it a protest vote gone wrong?

Stephen Bannon has heard of it though.

Any NCers here? Tillis is wavering and wants to hear from constituents what they think on DeVos.

And also what did red state voters dislike about Obamacare? It sucked.

My issue is blaming trump eo gone wild on obama expanding the use of eos is that most of Obama's time in office (6 of 8 years) he was facing an opposition congress. I think it is potentially a useful tool in that relationship.

Trump is supposedly a republican with the house and the senate. This means traditional avenues are wide open and should be utilized. It's a bit crazy congress is letting him do this.

That being said I have a delusion of hope and that once the sc confirmation is done sane members of congress will take up active opposition to Trump. I think for many of them the sc seat is the one thing they need from trump. Worst case scenario they can't defer to pence as he would have legitimacy issues and if they go after trump he could screw them on nomination.

Do I think that will happen? No. It's just a wild fantasy.

Trump trying hard to piss off every single ally?

In a startling move that threatens a major diplomatic row, the leaders of the conservative, socialist and liberal groups in Brussels have written to the European commission and the European council, whose members represent the 28 EU states, to reject the appointment of Ted Malloch [as US ambassador to the EU].

When recently asked by the BBC why he was interested in moving to Brussels, Malloch replied: “I had in a previous career a diplomatic post where I helped bring down the Soviet Union. So maybe there’s another union that needs a little taming.”

“In these statements, the prospective nominee expressed his ambition to ‘tame the bloc like he brought down the Soviet Union’, eloquently supported dissolution of the European Union and explicitly bet on the demise of the common currency within months.

“These statements reveal outrageous malevolence regarding the values that define this European Union and, if pronounced by an official representative of the United States, they would have the potential to undermine seriously the transatlantic relationship that has, for the past 70 years, essentially contributed to peace, stability and prosperity on our continent.”

A letter from the leader of the Socialists and Democrats group, Gianni Pittella, describes Malloch’s statements as “shocking” and urges the EU institutions to treat him as a “persona non grata”.

Why haven't impeachment proceedings started up yet? Who in Congress or the Senate prefers Trump to Pence?

EDIT: Do they maybe think that if they impeach Trump, Hillary gets to be president? That's not how it works! YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL GUYS!

R's are terrified of trumpkins. They know they can't win without them. Trump would have to do something truly unspeakable for them to do anything before 2018, and even then they will probably do nothing out of fear.

that Time cover photo of bannon is incredible. dark and foreboding, sort of a clint eastwood tough and ugly thing but a villain instead of hero.

most magazine cover photos look like every other generic magazine cover photo.

I could legit see him being like, wow, that is an awesome photo, somebody get that thing printed on canvas so i can hang it on my wall.

i dont have a single photo of myself hanging in my place, but if a photo like that of me existed, i'd hang that sucker up.

Haven't seen much about Trump's statement on the Johnson amendment here, where he wants to repeal the law restricting tax-exempt organizations (aka churches) from engaging in political advocacy.

I'm curious if DVaut thinks this is another symptom of his Ethiopia syndrome, wherein the governing party is just rewriting the rules to entrench their power forever. Getting churches involved in politics would obviously be a massive boon to Republicans.

a reason is effectively the same as a reason they didn't steal the nomination from Trump at the convention.

dont want to piss off a huge number of voters. before it was to prevent blowing up 2016 election. Now to prevent blowing up 2018 and/or 2020.

Not sure what Trump said but topically, a Pew poll today showed that 32% of America thinks you have to be Christian to be a Real 'Murican. That puts us in the same area as Poland/Hungary/Italy, with Greece way up at 54% and ~every other Western democracy between 7-18%.

I don't think he wrecked the state, but I didn't follow politics as closely back then.

Shows what I know (being a Brit is my excuse) - I'd kind of assumed that there would have to be a new election given nobody would really have any sort of mandate to lead the country.

He certainly tried with his tax cuts and slashing education funding but for a Republican he was pretty OK.

you heard it wrong.

here's a transcript if you want to read it:
http://time.com/4658012/donald-trump...st-transcript/

There's some stuff about isis targetting christians followed by we should defend religious liberty.

Then there's generic prayer stuff like 'we are one nation under god'.

But no, there's really nothing implying what you wrote.

JK, right? Impeachment would be devastating to the Republican Party.
