I don't think I can take much more of those 20/20 hindsight epiphanies.

The media did do a horrible job putting trump in proper context. In fact they went above and beyond and became his biggest promoters, wittingly or unwittingly.

Still the evidence was all there for anyone to see. There was no need for a gotcha expose for people to see that Trump was wholly unqualified for the presidency. That was obvious long before he even became a candidate.

I know some people defend their actions by talking about how horrible Hillary was but to. E that is still doubling down on stupid. Even knowing how bad Hillary was it still not not make trump anything more than still the worst possible choice. If we look at anything Trump has done since the election none of it is the least bit surprising based on his history and accumulated behavior.

Media screwed the pooch, everyone screwed the pooch. It is funny when republicans (or our resident liberal and libertarians) say haha Democratic Party so dumb they nominated Hillary. Look republicans out there I am neither a republican or a democrat but outside of Cruz you had like twelve other people you jokers could have nominated. So passing the buck to the nomination of Hillary is silly.

None of us can sit blameless at this time. However my biggest fear is that there will be no meaningful collective lesson learned from this entire fiasco, and that is probably most disturbing.

The media is not going to mediate better, the politicians are not going to politic better and the electorate is not going to think better. In sixty years nobody will be documenting how anything changed for the better in response to the election and reign of Trump.

Fifty percent of the voters can not be bothered to make a meaningful vote once every four years. The media simply looks at election cycles to boost their own profiles and celebrity and perhaps parlay it into something more. Politicians are the same self serving narcissists whose only goal is reelection.

Nothing will change.

I find this mildly surprising.

WaPo's trying to get Jefferson fired.
07-21-2017 , 07:03 PM
Yeah but the replacement AG will get confirmed, snap fire Mueller and gg investigation, right?
07-21-2017 , 07:06 PM
Just saw a poll on MSNBC where they finally asked the most wanted question. Would Trump supporters still support him after shooting someone on 5th Avenue. Answer? 22% Yes.

Probably the hardest core Christians waiting for Trump to overturn Roe v Wade. They can deal with him killing somebody, as long as he says he's pro-life.
07-21-2017 , 07:08 PM
So, if the AG breaks the law, who prosecutes?

EDIT: Probably DAG (Rosenstein). Did I answer myself?

Indeed. Haberman can put on whatever hairshirt she wants. But at the end of the day, the voters deserve a lot more of the blame than the media.

Jared Kushner Discloses Dozens More Assets in Revised Financial Filing

Quote:
According to the disclosure, 77 assets were “inadvertently omitted” from Mr. Kushner’s earlier form and were added during what the form’s footnotes describe as the “ordinary review” process with the government ethics office. The updated form also provides additional information about 77 other assets, offering more detail about the structure of Mr. Kushner’s real estate assets. Mr. Kushner’s initial disclosure, released in March, hadn’t then been certified by the Office of Government Ethics.
Just 77?

Quote:
To enter the White House, Mr. Kushner resigned from 266 outside positions and Ms. Trump resigned from 292, their lawyer said, largely at subsidiaries of their families’ multi-layered real-estate businesses.

In his initial disclosure, Mr. Kushner didn’t identify business relationships with Goldman Sachs Group and billionaires George Soros and Peter Thiel through a real-estate tech startup called Cadre that Mr. Kushner co-founded and currently partly owns, The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this year. An investment in Cadre valued at between $5 million and $25 million was included on the new disclosure, which showed Mr. Kushner “intended to resign” from his position with Cadre in January but didn’t do so until May.
Holy Smoke (but no fire).

Quote:
A Wall Street Journal analysis of securities and other filings earlier this year found Mr. Kushner also didn’t disclose loans totaling at least $1 billion, from more than 20 lenders, to properties and companies he partly owned. He also has provided personal guarantees on more than $300 million of the debt, according to the analysis.
A BILLION! Atta boy.

it's a lot of conflicts of interest, a lot of work and time spent partially divesting assets, but boy is he worth it

At this point the woman who does Trump's laundry will be shown to have had meetings with Russians close to Putin!

Here's a good one from the same article. Do emoluments violations apply to advisors or just the POTUS?

Quote:
Ms. Trump held positions, typically vice president or executive vice president, with more than 200 entities that are part of her father’s real-estate business.

She has equity interests in relatively few of the entities. She owns part of the company’s hotel in Washington, a stake valued at between $5 million and $25 million that generated $2.4 million in revenue from January 2016 to May 2017, including a period when the hotel wasn’t yet open. She remains a passive investor in the Washington hotel and receives income from it.

Manafort and Trump Jr. no longer doing public hearing. What's this about?

Extra Obamacare sabotage. Dept of HHS changed the site's registration page to spam new sign-ups with anti-Ocare propaganda. Check out the link to the article too. Trump has been misappropriating Obamacare money and there's more...

They confirmed a little while ago, then canceled, then agreed to a private hearing only. This is such BS.

Slight good news though. Kushner agreed to go in front of the House Intel Committee on Tuesday, after his private "interview" with "staff" (not Senators) on Monday's Senate Intel Committee hearing. And I think Tuesday is public.
