****ing mccain, now is not the time to get brain cancer

Being a Senator must be way more awesome than I imagine, given the number of olds that choose to serve right into the graveyard. There is literally no job I would work with less than 10 years life expectancy, let alone 10 months.

Just checked, it's only until the next statewide general election.

So both AZ seats will presumably be open next year.

Maybe McCain's the Republican version of Ted Kennedy and this is the only way they can pass their health bill.

They could maybe have taken heller and the other AZ senator, but there was no third target because everywhere else was deep red. If both AZ senators are up for election (and one is more or less an open seat no less) than they have a real shot.
I'm right, Arizona requires a special election. In fact, according to this source/quick google search, the governor can't even do a temporary replacement: https://www.infoplease.com/askeds/fi...t-senate-seats

Wishing death on McCain is flat wrong, the guy may not be a great senator, but he is probably the best Republican one there is currently and that's even with the potential confusion he has appeared to have of late. He also truly cares about the country and its allies.

Isn't the "runoff" going to be "who can be most ******edly aligned with Sheriff Joe?"
07-19-2017 , 08:34 PM
Sheriff Joe lost his election

Ok, so even per that source the governor gets to appoint a replacement until the next statewide election, presumably that would be November of 2018 (I'm sure its too soon for it to be November of this year). That would mean two seats open in AZ, a state that is trending blue, in 2018. Again, a terrible thing, but a real chance now for dems to take the senate, by flipping both AZ seats, flipping Heller's, and holding everything else. Still a long shot, but not as long a shot as their next best option which would be something crazy like capturing Ted Cruz's seat in Texas.

Not even top 3 Republicans, lol. Of late he has shown no signs of caring about the country, only about the appearance of his own propriety.

Personally, I'll be sending positive energy John McCain's way. He can thank me later.

l'm a Scientist. I'm Blowing the Whistle on the Trump Administration

Not as alarmist as the title, but interesting read about climate change and alerting Mueller on how Trump is grossly abusing power to restructure the government against American interests.

I do find all the negative statements about an ill man troubling, however.

He is awful. His entire role is being the republican sound bite so the media can get someone on the right to say they are "concerned". He would then of course do nothing at all.

What about Trump? Can we wish him death or wish he was on that GOP Scalise hit list without being on the hook for making a threat?

i want trump to live as long as possible, 100, 110 years old, to increase the odds of some future administration being radical enough to actually lock him up and seize his wealth

the farthest harm i'd wish him is maybe arthritis

McCain is way worse than, say, John Cornyn. The latter owns being an enthusiastic supporter of atrocious policy. The McCain/Graham troubled and concerned crowd gives credibility to the completely made up and unsupported by evidence media assumption that "moderate" GOPers are a thing.

With all due respect, if moderate GOPers weren't a thing, Trumpcare would already be the law of the land. Or just full repeal with no replace.

Yeah it is amazing how “important” this is to bigly US-Russian relationship. It should be a complete non issue for the US. It’s not like we should give something up for them to allow adoptions again. It is amazingly stupid.

So either the Trump family is super idiotic talking about Russian babies all the time, or the think everyone else is super dumb to believe that is what is discussed.

Or likely both.
07-19-2017 , 09:14 PM
I've never really understood the adoption thing as a punitive measure. Aren't orphans sort of undesirable and shouldn't Russia be happy to get rid of them?
07-19-2017 , 09:18 PM
Especially Russian orphans, maybe Americans were mostly snatching up the cute 6 month olds who hadn't been broken yet and that's why Russia cut us off?

Yeah it's really mindblowing how infantile he is. He legitimately, no hyperbole, has the emotional maturity of a young child.
