i was thinking about this yesterday, that i would last less than one day as a DC reporter because i'd be standing there with my tape recorder in the hallway as john mccain chuckes and says "hey i've been tellin you guys for months, there are more shoes on this than a centipede and more will drop in the future" i would scream at him "WHY AREN'T YOU DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT?!" he's saying he knows this is a mega scandal where a russian agent was literally elected president, and he's playing it like, "this guy still doesn't know **** at politics and i got 30 years experience, i'm gonna fleece him for everything i can get, and only then do everything i can to make sure he goes down in the most horrifying way possible"

and i don't know how i'd play it, but john mccain knows more about congressional politics than i do and he's an expert on torture. seeing trump denigrate his service in a personal manner, trump wasn't talking about all war vets, or all vietnam vets, and from a guy who dodged the draft because he was born rich, i'd hope john mccain would want to extract the maximum amount of torture he could on trump. and i guess if i knew i was guilty and there's a bunch of top federal investigations all pointed at me and everyone connected to me, and 2 news networks and dozens of newspaper journalists every day night and day trying to bring me down... every day would be rough torture, i think. every time he turns on the tv (literally his favorite thing!), even fox news the conservative safe space is asking too many questions. that's like if the local red sox radio station started ****ting on the red sox. sean hannity's conservative-talk-show-portraying-itself-unironically-as-a-news-show-on-a-news-network is the only place on tv (also pat robertson's website) that he believes will offer him the soft enough touch. things are looking rougher than ever, i don't know how trump can claw himself out of this. i hope john mccain is happy

Note that the FBI guy is probably an expert in email analysis and recovery. Mueller now has at least 25 people (15+ prosecutors) working on the matter. There's no analogy I can think of in terms of the legal/investigative firepower he's amassed. Like that's what you'd put together to go after a major terrorist organization.
