I think McCain just straight has dementia. I heard him being interviewed today, he was just rambling and making no sense.

Some real unfortunate timing and bad luck for them. As we all know the last ten major party campaigns had scores of these meaningless contacts with various Russians during their respective campaign.

Wait a second... I’m being told in my ear that actually no previous campaigns from either party had so many “innocent” contacts with the Russians. This is deeply troubling news. Deeply troubling. As I noted before our trade with Russia reaches almost an entire percentage point of our overall trade imports and exports. So obviously we should have campaigns contacting all levels of Russian foreign agents during a campaign and before an election.

This is obviously standard behavior and that another person connected to the campaign is discovered to have had a previously undisclosed meeting with Russia is nothing to be alarmed about. We are only learning about new incidents once or twice a month right? This is all obviously a big misunderstanding and will certainly be clarified soon.

Just because it is plausible that Trump’s campaign had more contacts with Russian agents and nationals during their campaign than the totality of every other United States Presidential Campaign combined does not mean anything nefarious was taking place. I mean there is a high demand for Russian babies in the US, for crying out loud.

I know man. You are above it all, looking down amusedly on those of us who are getting our panties in a twist about elephant-murdering scumbags openly trying to obtain information from an enemy power. We all need to learn to be like you and not take any of this so seriously.

It is worth mentioning that this has been the lead on drudge all day and not any stories that make trump look good.

i love that republicans defend with conviction the idea that a russian government lawyer is flying in from moscow to do a personal meeting with top members of the trump campaign to.... show them newspaper clippings? OF COURSE IT'S ESPIONAGE

I got elephants as worse because they are very intelligent and endangered, but we're splitting hairs of scumbaggery here.

If I'm remembering from my youth correctly D.A.R.E. was administered by law enforcement, so it's probably just a ruse to funnel them $ to embezzle and use to buy more military weapons.

It's a lock that Hatch favorite tv show is reruns of Dynasty.

Regarding Mueller allegedly not knowing about this. I doubt we should take that as gospel yet, but it does seem as if the simplest explanation for this story is that it's a case of stupid on stupid. Would actual Russian government sources do this via a pop star and people who just openly state who they are in emails directly to the campaign? To Trump's own son?

Obviously the barrier to that line of thinking is that information was actually leaked, so you have to then believe in a large coincidence - that this seeming collusion existed alongside an actual one. However, it's still possible that is what it is.

To me one of the most interesting things to come out recently was mentioned in a story about the old, now dead lawyer going searching for Hillary dirt. It said someone with knowledge of Russian state actors was claiming they were looking for ways to get information to the Trump campaign via intermediaries. It didn't tie directly to the lawyer guy, but seemed to be mentioned to indicate that possibly he was a mechanism they'd later found. That broad idea does seem like a way a sensible covert team might work rather than the Trump Jr madness. Maybe Mueller is off down a different path.

That doesn't get Trump Jr, and whoever else knew of it, off the hook of looking like lying morons who'd sell out the country at the drop of a hat. It is also still one hell of a coincidence.

Whatever else happens this year, Time's Person of the year should be "The Media," or more specifically "The Washington Post & The New York Times."

If Satan himself e-mails you that close to an election, you hear the man out. Democrat or Republican, it doesn't matter.
The issue isn't getting the material from a hostile power/entity, the issue is what that entity expects from you in return if you accept the help and win.
