Obviously. I am clearly not saying any of this is justified. It squares with everything else we know about the modern right in America. I'm just trying to explain Wookie's understandable first-blush wonderment; they are on the verge of moving on from denial to accept/justify. It's where they are headed, and 45% of the country or whatever will believe the moral case about the urgency to defeat evil Hillary Clinton deeply in their hearts just like they all loved Reagan for selling munitions to Iran so he could have a slush fund to fight commies.
Liberals will shake their fist at the sky at the great unwinding of the grand national consensus, of the naked partisanship, of the surprising malfeasance of the GOP. Isn't this like, well, every national debate going back a long time now? The Iraq War, the housing crash/economic crisis, threats of government shut down, health care, the Merrick Garland thing.
