This isn't known to be the plan for the meeting we're discussing. It may be true, but I was trying to post about that meeting and what the NYT seems to have well sourced evidence for.

How about it's as simple as this:

Has Putin broken US Federal Law by hacking and other crimes? What about other Russians working on his behalf, like hackers, bankers, lawyers?

From my understanding, conspiring to work with someone who breaks the law makes you complicit, and an accessory to that crime. If that crime is espionage, you too. Same goes for Flynn with his plot to kidnap someone on behalf of Erdogan & Turkey. The kidnapping need not actually happen for the crime of conspiracy to have been committed.

Trump was not the president when this was going down. He and his team were actively working with the Russian government to subvert actually US policy on Russia.
