I agree, rich white people don't get charged with the heaviest crimes they could get charged with - and treason will probably always be the heaviest. I was mostly just trying to go beyond the "it's definitely treason" / "it's definitely not treason" posts and see if it was possible to find out.

I think I saw a Louis Theroux documentary on something like that.

I don't understand how anyone who has seen an elephant could have any desire to shoot an elephant.

Pretty sure this is one of those Cecil the Lion-style hunts where you pay a guide to drive you up to the animal so you can shoot it. ofc completely legal in various African countries.

This isn't known to be the plan for the meeting we're discussing. It may be true, but I was trying to post about that meeting and what the NYT seems to have well sourced evidence for.

Trump Jr and Co. are meeting with Russians, with the intent of getting help to win the election. to subvert official US policy in respects to russia.
'Levying war' is a higher standard than just 'working against the interests or policy of'. Further, presidents of the US can change US policy - intending to change US policy is exactly what all presidential candidates are doing. Again, it only seems treasonous if you consider Russia an enemy.

How about it's as simple as this:

Has Putin broken US Federal Law by hacking and other crimes? What about other Russians working on his behalf, like hackers, bankers, lawyers?

From my understanding, conspiring to work with someone who breaks the law makes you complicit, and an accessory to that crime. If that crime is espionage, you too. Same goes for Flynn with his plot to kidnap someone on behalf of Erdogan & Turkey. The kidnapping need not actually happen for the crime of conspiracy to have been committed.

Good luck legally proving that Putin was responsible for the hacking. Try subpoenaing the FSB.

Trump was not the president when this was going down. He and his team were actively working with the Russian government to subvert actually US policy on Russia.

what is that, if not treason?

The Times now has the email to Donald Trump Jr. offering Russian aid to "incriminate Hillary." His reply: "If it's what you say I love it."
The documents “would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father,” read the email, written by a trusted intermediary, who added, “This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.”

If the future president’s elder son was surprised or disturbed by the provenance of the promised material — or the notion that it was part of an ongoing effort by the Russian government to aid his father’s campaign — he gave no indication.

He replied within minutes: “If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer.”

Four days later, after a flurry of emails, the intermediary wrote back, proposing a meeting in New York on Thursday with a “Russian government attorney.”

Donald Trump Jr. agreed, adding that he would likely bring along “Paul Manafort (campaign boss)” and “my brother-in-law,” Jared Kushner, now one of the president’s closest White House advisers.

It would be espionage though, which is also a crime. And anyone who helped you or conspired with you would be just as guilty.

Jr.'s not good at this. He posted the email chain in screenshots to his twitter.

Email: "They have incriminating information about Hillary. Part of Russia and its government and their support for Mr. Trump"
Don Jr.: "no idea what they even wanted, adoption or something"
07-11-2017 , 11:20 AM
Jr. obviously going for the "Yeah I did it. So?" defense.

Scary part is that it will probably work.
07-11-2017 , 11:20 AM
He released them because the NY Times has them too now.
07-11-2017 , 11:21 AM
this all makes complete sense. DJT Jr takes the hit for EVERYTHING. DJT is absolved from being involved. DJT pardons Jr.

its like when weebay took the fall for all the murders barksdale's crew committed. the difference is this version stringer has the ability to pardon everyone.
