The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

CNN's coverage of Trump's wrestling tweet has been embarrassing. Like pro wrestling itself, the tweet was too juvenile and silly to be taken seriously as an attempt to incite violence against the media.

The real story around this tweet, if there ever was one, is about whether the POTUS should be sending out tweets that are the equivalent of fart jokes.

Nah, 2 of the 3 tweets were anti-Trump too, it just wasn't worth pointing out his 2nd flip-flop on China in like a month or the fact that you don't publicly shame a regime built on honor and respect...especially when it's right after getting what you and your family wanted from them, and then leaving your own country to eat the bag of dicks when they retaliate.

The wrestling tweet is stupid and inconsequential, but its also the mildest thing that guy posted. The list of Jewish employees at CNN was gross enough that I think CNN should have doxxed the guy. **** him. I'd greenlight ruining this dudes life.

This is especially awesome since America has never once helped Canada with a war. We have helped America several times.

Parties affected more by an action absolutely have the right to complain about it more without ridicule. We don't know who may have been hurt or how many extra threats were received because of the tweet, but 1 is too many.

Besides, according to our very own White House and many Republican lawmakers, CNN has the right to hit back up to 10 times harder. Or is the limit always reached at Donald Trump's latest attack?

I don't give two ****s about the reddit guy's feelings, and have little interest in trolling as an art form.

But I still don't think CNN should be allocating resources to disciplining internet trolls. The internet has an endless supply of trolls, and their only goal is to provoke reactions from non-trolls. Apologies from this jackass are meaningless. There is a 90% chance that he'll be back to trolling from another account in a matter of weeks.

I'm sure that I'm in the minority. A lot of people on this board and elsewhere seem to think that the best way to deal with having an juvenile, insult comic in the White House is to respond in kind.

No way. I'm probably against everything that guy ever posted, but this is not how journalism should work; not only because of ethics and purpose, but also because it's probably illegal. Coercing/blackmailing people is wrong, even if you don't like those people.

Technically, coercion is what they are doing to him, though, right? Reporting his name would just be doing their jobs. Or am I missing something?

I think that my favorite Trump supporters are the ones who invoke Reagan as some sort of kindred spirit.

Whatever one thinks of Reagan, he was a million times more prepared to be president, and more in control of his emotions, than Trump.

I hate the fact that the Republican Party has normalized incompetent assclowns like Reagan and W Bush.

Like what? Couldn't one say we helped you win WW2 just as well as the other way around? You were in it before us.

It's not like we were attacked and you helped us. You entered several wars as part of an alliance that we were also part of.

agree with first paragraph, but the even bigger story is the extent to which our democracy is eroded due to the president's ongoing effort to de-legitimize the free press through constant, baseless attacks on the media outlets who don't carry his water for him and shower him with constant praise.

Yeah. Bush might have been faking his yokelness a bit, but Reagan was at least close to as ignorant as Trump. He was just better at playing the part of POTUS.

The guy that created the .gif is fine. Its funny. Trump knocking out CNN as a wrestling meme. Who cares.

The issue is the president issued that as an official white house statement.

I agree 100%, although I think Trump is destined to lose his war with the press.

Well apparently the guy has posted other horrible things.

But yeah, I think that viewed in a vacuum the wrestling / CNN gif would be funny but viewed within the context of everything else Trump and Trump supporters have done it is not so.

I don't think Reagan was particularly knowledgeable about government, but he was miles ahead of Trump. He had been the governor of a large state for 8 years and had run for president once before he was elected.

Sometimes I think people don't realize what an outlier Trump is in terms of (in)competence. It's fine to have a dim view of Reagan, W, and all that, but Trump is a different level of incompetent and unprepared.
07-05-2017 , 11:23 AM
Reagan delegated and stayed on script imo. Trump mostly delegates, but sometimes gets involved, and never stays on script. I'm not an expert or anything, but am old enough to remember the Reagan admin and I read On Bended Knee not too long ago which gives a pretty good look inside the Reagan Whitehouse.

This is hardly saying anything, but I think Reagan was a much better human being than Trump.

One can credit Reagan for this for sure, and again it's hardly saying anything, but the people in his inner circle were way way way more professional and competent. So he had better judgement (not saying much). I think he steered quite clear of policy details personally though.

Yeah cnn has absolutely screwed the pooch. The story is the president should not be tweeting out juvenile gifs and memes not the silly content in them.

Tracking down the Reddit guy who created it is lol horrible. All cable news is pretty much horrific

Nah you are right. Cnn took the bait, got drawn offsides and screwed the pooch. Their behavior in this has been horrible.

From your keyboard to God's ears. Is it over-dramatic to say our children's lives depend on this?

Canadians like Clovis need to tread carefully on topics like this. The reason Canada has never been in a direct war is because they are isolated by a huge USA buffer. So it is a little bit disingenuous to minimize our help to Canada in that regard. There is probably not a safer country in the world due to proximity and isolation provided by another country in the whole world.

Helping us military actions seems like a requirement of appreciation. I know some Canadians think you could just move them to any random place in the world and they could be just as carefree but that is not even a tiny bit true.

Other than CSPAN all cable news sucks and always has.

There is no mass audience for 24 hours of different news stories. Instead of reporting on important things elsewhere, they have to pretend unimportant elements of the few stories they do cover are sensational.

I agree with all of this. It's one thing to steer clear of the details because you have an agenda-setting, tone at the top view of the presidency and you plan to rely heavily on knowledgeable subject matter experts.

It's another thing to steer clear of the details because you think you know it all already, especially when the most of the people you take advice from are assclowns, family members, or assclown family members.

Have you been to the Reagan Library in Simi? Didn't make me like him any more than I do, but I definitely came away believing he was much more than the empty suit and head I had previously understood him to be. Not even in the same category as Trump imo.
