Obviously Trump gonna Trump. But if his behavior was so awful that you're going to tweet about the "bizarre" moment, how come she kept smiling after he said it?

Edit: how do you link a tweet?

You clearly have very little experience with women if you're asking that question. Next time you're at a bar or any kind of social event watch a guy hit on a girl in an inappropriate fashion and notice how she reacts. Women don't freak out and they smile even when they are uncomfortable because they are trying to get rid of you. They aren't trying to give you any ammo to hang around or piss you off to make the situation any worse.

As one girl I know put it "We're smiling but in the back of our heads were thinking please don't rape me."

That's the stuff women have to deal with when it comes to Trump and guys like Trump on a daily basis.

Did he think she was going to slap the President across the face or something? I've seen my wife react to awkward and inappropriate comments and it's always like kind of a half smile and back or turn away to defuse the situation. Original comment is like a step and a half away from "why didn't she fight back if she was being raped?"

Humans laugh and smile when they're nervous or feel awkward in an attempt to defuse the situations. It's a natural reaction.

I understand the dynamic but she isn't in a secluded parking garage or even a crowded bar where she potentially fears for her safety. She's standing in a crowded oval office with the leader of the free world.

My point is why pretend that it's ok and well received to his face and then turn around and tell the world that it isn't publicly which by the way is going to have the byproduct of making her instantaneously famous? If she were truly scared that the POTUS was going to rape her if she didn't handle it just right, surely she wouldn't go and advertise his rapey behavior to the world after, what if he sends some goons to kidnap her at a later time?

You can make the argument that it was a conditioned instinctive response in the moment, and maybe that's the right argument I don't know, but I don't think that continued smile followed by public incrimination sends the right message to women and I don't think it's lost on her that she's going to get even more attention because of her looks when she sends that tweet.

Uh, pissing off the president may not get her beaten up, but it could end her career.

You're making my point. Why is she sending the tweet? It's on camera and obviously lots of people are going to notice it, if she has something to fear from this man let the matter resolve itself rather than instigating it, it's going to get plenty of traction without her speaking up first regardless.

She's not thinking about what message this sends to women, she's thinking, "I'm supposed to be doing a job and this perv is coming onto me". She just uses the word 'bizarre' because that's what the news requires, not what everyone knows happen.

In any case, we're not doing with a fair deck here. If she made a scene she'd be that b*tch who just has to make a scene for attention.

Pretty much this.

Trump was regarded as vindictive before being President.

Trump is a sexual predator. Also POTUS. Some confusion and disorientation is understandable. I don't see her doing anything wrong.

I don't think she should have made a scene I just think she should have either wiped the smile off her face like she wanted to and then went dropping bombs on twitter, or in the alternative react like she did and let other people point out what a lousy piece of **** the guy is based on the interaction.

I think on some level she sensed that she could help her career with the two choices she made, and it just rubs me the wrong way. I understand it's not going to be the popular opinion on this matter, and maybe I'm wrong, but those are my feelings on it.

I'll not press it any further.

This is new. Trump using charts now. People calling him a dumbass on health care must be getting to him.

If your natural reaction is that she's an "attention whore" then that's on you, not anything she did

Your own internal biases led to that, not her

stupid tangent. If trump wasn't a creep, this conversation about how a woman should appropriately react to pervs never happens. It all comes back to trump.

I'm a strong supporter of kicking them all in the balls as hard as you can.

Also if we are analyzing her smile... she looks really uncomfortable to me as she walks away.

Also, she just called the moment bizarre. Which it was. Who calls a reporter up to compliment her while on the phone with a foreign leader?

What a weird take. She only called it "bizarre." If it wasn't bizarre (or creepy, or worse), then her tweet would have gone nowhere. She smiled awkwardly and I guess politely (which makes sense given the moment and the setting) and then sent out the tweet about a moment she felt was bizarre. What do you think? Was the moment odd? If not, why does it have like 1M views? Why are we talking about it?
