FWIW I heard an interview with one of the protestors who was attacked who said that the cops, when they actually got involved, were on their side and that they intervened to stop the beatings. Have no knowledge beyond that, though, and clearly cop on protestor action is well established generally.

That's more or less correct. The bottom line doesn't change though, you're still going to have to see both public insistence and meaningful political will to get any kind of real results here. And, as you said, the findings and the extent that we hear about them aren't certain.

For now, I'd say that this just keeps a cloud hanging over Trump for what could be a fairly long time, which is worth something. What I don't know, but something.

Guy on NPR this morning is talking about how Americans "all share the same basic values" and we need to come together. That's bull****. Civil rights, human rights, democracy, equality, opportunity, education, access to basic health care, access to the ballot, these have all become completely partisan issues. We don't all share the same basic values.

The Russia attack is like if 9/11 happened, but only 50% or so of the country was willing to admit it happened, because it benefited the other 50% in a big election. And there's no direct video.

The route that seemed promising to me was essentially Mueller taking a principled, personal stance to bring charges, even in the face of tremendous political pressure from Trump et al. Then, once begun, the legal proceedings would be impossible to stop without violating legality to an extent that even republicans couldn't stomach. However, the more I even type this out the more I'm inclined to just wholeheartedly agree with you - actually it changes nothing.

courts rolled that back- i didn't have to show any ID to vote in NC. R legislature tried their damnedest tho, and they intentionally shuttered a ton of DMV locations in poor/minority concentrated areas.
