But shhhhhh, don't talk about them.

EDIT: He's also admitting that they discussed Qatar when he was in Saudi Arabia? Really weird.

Oh wow when I saw the word "relied" I thought he meant re-lied, like "lie again."

Afaik, our main military base in the region is in Qatar because the Saudis kicked us out of a billion dollar base because people like OBM objected to permitting infedels on the soil of the land of the holy mosques.

In other words, that tweet just freaked out the top US military brass.

Not ponied and yes interesting. Trump bragged that a total of $400 billion in deals took place. 109 for arms, some for infrastructure (he claimed) and who knows what else. Ivanka got 100 million for just being there. Trump obviously won't be outdone by a family member, so he got more than that for sure. But how much??

I can't believe that with all the **** Trump has been pulling financially, that there hasn't been one specific emoluments violation to be found.

Well, Trump et al made lots of disingenuous noise about fighting extremism, and the official explanation of Qatar's banishment is that they've supported everything the Saudi's dislike, from things they definitely have (Muslim Brotherhood) to stuff it'd be very strange if they had (Houthi's in Yemen, who Qatari soldiers died fighting as recently as this weekend). I would guess Trump's just riffing on the meaningless platitudes he spouted, if you were the Saudis why would you even bother discussing the detail of your geopolitical plans with this clown?

Unless you've actually been to one of his shows you don't know what I'm talking about. Political imagery like in that video is one thing; stopping the show and subjecting the audience to 30 minutes of confused rambling we're not even exactly sure what about was the issue I and others had with it. Still would go again, it was a great show. GE Smith was touring with him at the time, and he played Gilmour's guitar parts flawlessly.

It's hard to figure out what he's up to. He is so dangerously unhinged since the weekend. I'm honestly perplexed, especially because he's gone against his own interests a couple of times now. Against the country? Fine, we're used to that. (WHAT THE **** KIND OF NORMALIZATION AM I CONDONING??) But once you start attacking your own **** with no apparent benefit, it's mental assistance time.

Keep in mind that he could be drumming up drama to counter Comey news, and while that seems to be working a bit, there is no requirement whatsoever to crush yourself in the process. So strange.

Oh I'm pretty sure there have been violations. That doesn't mean that (impeachment) charges would be filed, though. Is that even part of the Mueller investigation?

Trump has the memory of a goldfish. They may or may not know that. The chances that ME leaders simply asked for his approval of certain things and he just nodded "ok" are pretty high IMO. If he's making enough cash, he'll nod to anything. Qatar may or may not have been part of a list like that. What we do know, is it was important enough for goldfish Trump to remember it was discussed at all.

It's probably true that she leaked this info in response to Putin's lies about election interference in the Megan Kelly interview. He was overly obnoxious that night and obviously bull****ting through his teeth on every accusation against him.

Officially disproving Vladimir was sweet though.

Yeah, it's true. At first glance I thought the "leaders pointed to Qatar" bit was a reference to what's just happened, but it does actually seem more likely a report of the meetings. I agree, if they ran it by Trump and he gave some form of consent or just meaningless blabber, and no one's bothered to correct or finesse it in the meantime that's, at best, slightly baffling foreign policy.

Afaik the leak was mailed to the intercept and they spent a few days reporting/writing. She likely sent it at least a week ago.

I often click on the twitter messages to see who is writing and retweeting there. Astonishing how many idiots there are in the world and how many have no problem showing their idiotic attitudes in their profiles. I really have to restrain myself because I get dumber with every MAGA tweet I read.

Baffling yes, but consistent with how he's been handling everything lately.

I believe the technical term for Lord's role is heel. The babyface pundits need someone to beat up on to keep audience interest up.

"Top lawyers with at least four major law firms rebuffed White House overtures to represent President Trump in the Russia investigations, in part over concerns that the president would be unwilling to listen to their advice, according to five sources familiar with discussions about the matter.

The unwillingness of some of the country’s most prestigious attorneys and their law firms to represent Trump has complicated the administration’s efforts to mount a coherent defense strategy to deal with probes being conducted by four congressional committees as well as Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller.
...
“The concerns were, ‘The guy won’t pay and he won’t listen,’” said one lawyer close to the White House who is familiar with some of the discussions between the firms and the administration, as well as deliberations within the firms themselves.

Other factors, the lawyer said, were that it would “kill recruitment” for the firms to be publicly associated with representing the polarizing president and jeopardize the firms’ relationships with other clients."

The gulf states don't really have many soldiers. The Qatari army is 30% Qatari and I doubt those are the 30% who have much chance to die fighting. Mostly they hire poor Pakistanis and Bangladeshis.

Saudi Arabia does this even more and includes top leadership. It's royals at the very top, but foreign nationals fill leadership positions. This protects the royals from military coups. They don't want a powerful military population like in Pakistan.

It warms my cold cold heart to know that no matter what happens with this investigation or even this presidency, it's already cost him millions and will continue to do so long after he leaves office. A lot of people aren't going to want the stink of the Trump name anywhere near them.

Yes, definitely true. I had also remembered the story incorrectly, the soldiers this weekend were just wounded.

Qatar recently paid $1B in random to Shia groups linked to Iran who had kidnapped a royal hunting party. This pissed off SA. Qatar and Iran also have a relationship because they share the world's largest gas field.

The Qatar shunning by Sunni countries is 100% about Iran.
