Reality winner is the source of the leak

no, not the president this time, that's her actual name.

why in the world would you send this to the intercept and not a real journalist.

We gotta stop using contractors so much--seems ridic a person named reality winner gets a security clearance just from how screwed up her parents have to be.

Reality Winner. Capitalization counts bro.

Is this Reality Winner chick the one doing the unmasking? Like how serious is what she's accused of doing?

Hey look everybody it's a rare post-election post from Hillary Clinton voter and IT compliance enthusiast seattlelou talking about Re: The Presidency of Donald J. Trump

Let's all get our popcorn and see what sort of burns he has for this incompetent dip**** who literally hired a Russian agent to be his NSA:

Apparently she leaked NSA **** she wasn't supposed to even look at, so I'd say it's pretty serious. She also got arrested same day of the report, which is rare. They're pissed.

Safe to say she probably won't be allowed to work ever again in a role where she has access to a computer and the company has any form of secure information, ie any corporation

Uh she's going to prison. The federal government doesn't take this kind of thing lightly, especially when it's not some rich privileged office-holder doing the leaking.

Yeah Trump is an unbelievably toxic insane scumbag, but has precious few allies among the elites. Still seems unlikely he'll do even a fraction of the evil the Cheney/Bush establishment produced.

This is only true if he doesn't last 4 years. He's already normalized white terrorists, tried to end any fight to climate change, is a wannabe dictator, and wouldn't mind police just openly shooting every colored person, along with a healthcare plan of let's just have sick people die. Dude wants to shoot protestors for gosh sakes. Trump will get around to stupid war that'll kill tons of people, that's the easy part b/c people support that.

So not only is the OMG DEEP STATE not a threat to Trump, but they've known that Russia attacked our voting infrastructure and have done nothing about it. Everyone concern trolling about how there might be a threat to democracy by the intelligence community undermining Trump should go jump off a bridge and/or start writing for the NYT op ed page.

The boss of the people uncovering this **** calls it fake news day in and day out. Not much you can do when the guy who has the final say doesn't believe a word of it, or claims not to.

And lol giving this to the Intercept. This will be the last time they get a scoop like this.

Carter Page should choose not to go on television, at all, ever.

Not impressed with the leaker or the Intercept's decision to report it. There is zero benefit to this information being public knowledge without some other mitigating reason(s), which don't seem to exist.

I strongly disagree. The narrative from the admin/GOP has been

1. There was no Russian interference in the Election

2. If there WAS Russian interference in the election, there was no collusion between Russia and Team Trump

3. If there WAS Russian interference in the election, it didn't change the outcome

This intel, which is now confirmed thanks in part to the fact that the leaker was arrested, points to 1 being true, and 3 possibly being true. There is absolutely a public interest in this information and that makes it newsworthy.
06-05-2017 , 07:36 PM
and it will be thuper fun watching Trump tweet about this, does he call the intel "fake news" while cheering the arrest at the same time?

Are we reading the same article? Direct evidence of Russians trying to hack our election system is kind of a bombshell.

The intelligence community has been pretty openly hostile to the Trump administration. They don't seem to be part of the problem. I have to assume that this is still a very active investigation/operation, and having it be public knowledge almost certainly hurts it.

Now if there is more to this, like the NSA just sat on the report or something, then sure. Leaking it is the right thing. But if there is no other shoe to drop then it's at best irresponsible and pointless. At worst it makes it even harder for the IC to make the connections they need to prove collusion.

re the intercept, if you haven't read the indictment,

Ms. Winner seems not so much.

https://twitter.com/ericgeller/statu...42516458496001

the big takeaway seems to be that the leaking is easy, but jesus could you try any harder to get caught?

As far as the actual contents of the intercept story, Schindler thinks it is a disaster and makes the nsa's job harder. Pwnallthethings thinks this is mostly a big yawn and not much new from last august.
06-05-2017 , 07:51 PM
WINNER, not so much.

Meh, if the investigation is in its infancy I'm inclined to agree with this more, but hell this pretty much just confirms reports (about haxxors targeting individual states/voting systems) that we've been hearing since last year. Now it's just another piece of an ever-growing puzzle. I honestly don't think it will have much of an impact with the way the Trump news cycle works...but then again the arrest of reality might give it legs it would otherwise not have /shrug

How hard is it to make a burner email account? Good lord, 2p2 trolls avoiding bans practice better OPSEC.
