The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

"The latest Gallup track on June 3 put Trump's job approval at a dismal 36% -- a single percentage point away from the lowest ebb of his time in the White House. (On March 28, Trump's job approval was at 35%.)

The Gallup numbers are no anomaly. A Quinnipiac University poll released in late May put Trump's job approval at 37%. A Monmouth poll conducted in mid-May put Trump's job approval at 39%."

How stupid could you be when they are trying to judge intent in the courts? Maybe the first time a man loses a SCOTUS case because he tweeted too much.

Single line tic-tac-toe is an analogy that has come to mind.

Literally, the thought that goes into chess is the series of probable consequences to a given move. All I ever see with Trump is bold move followed by inevitable countermove that puts him in a weaker spot. Pretty soon, if not already, he's just running around from chack to check with a lone king, but no checkmate with a gop congress.

Hypo GWB ban would have passed. As Sally Yates noted, president has wide latitude, even with poor justifications, but religious animus is not a permissable basis.

It's a hard case to lose, but Trump can.

Pretty sure he's just sensationalizing again. Bad Trump news gets drowned out, he thinks. So he creates controversy, throwing in a few jabs at the media, the courts, the Democrats, the UK, the Muslims (no wait, not the Muslims ((but then again, tweets don't matter)) (((oh **** me!)))) in order to cast doubt on institutions, make himself feel good, and piss off the left.

No. He is very stupid and has no idea how our government (any of it) works.

People really really really need to stop giving him any credit for some sort of secret plan/agenda. Jesus ****ing christ.

Everybody always thinks that, throughout history, even with Hitler. At some point his intentions don't matter, though, when you go down this road, as long as there are enough citizens in the cult

Good article relating to this, essentially arguing we assign grand themes/vision to actions of buffoons that caused great damage and think of them as evil supervillains because our brains/historians need to assign structure/meaning to important events:

This is funny, in light of the current discussion about tweets not counting:

Trump doesn't even have to pass along orders to ignore the courts and refuse visas to Muslims. He certainly may try to do that, but even if he doesn't he's already giving a wink and a nod to every ahole in customs/state dept/whatever.

And Trump has certainly been asking about ways to force the courts. What does he say when someone suggests that Marines could block the justices and military courts could replace them? The Deep State will probably prevent that, but Trump would probably do it if he could and 25% of the country would cheer.

Aside from what I said in the one post you quoted, his intentions could also be:

1) Provoke a terrorist attack on US soil.
2) Increase the divide between white and X or Christianity and Y.
3) Base's red meat.
4) He's got $ riding on it somehow.

Prob many more.

It is not hyperbole to say there is a non-zero chance that the US may not be a democracy in a few years. I don't think this is likely but it is a real possibility.
its not a democracy now.

Trump's a huge gambler, right? He must be having a field day playing with all the resources at his fingertips. When he's finally stopped, withdrawal is gonna be a *****!
