Yeah his true base is only about 20-25%. The next 15-20% are supporters that are sympathetic to his personality, his goals, his world view but if things really go bad will abandon him. Withdrawing from Paris is probably supported by all of them for one reason or another ("killing jobs," American sovereignty, pissing off euros/liberals/whomever)

Honest question. Does it matter? Popularity really only matters when there is an election in sight and the presidential election only was a bit more then half a year ago.

People wont feel any consequences of the Paris withdrawal or will just blame it on "weather". If the GOP starts campaigning his approvals might as well go up again. For exactly that reason new governments normaly start to implement unpopular things early.

Ask the POTUS. In such a short period, he has completely shifted the country's priorities from vaguely important to straight up petty. Using Twitter, failing state-run Fox News, and parts of his "policy" speeches, he sensationalizes nonsense (and sometimes big issues, but always on the wrong side) while taking personal advantage of the most financially impacting items behind the scenes.

BTW, anyone who thinks Republicans are fighting so hard to protect Trump because they just want to keep their jobs is a fool, myself included. It's MUCH more than that. There's a huge reason they don't want Pence, and a huge reason they are deceiving the public many more times than ever before. The opportunities under Trump have to be TREMENDOUS. Like, a lot bigger than government itself. I'll explain.
