don't think you can make this claim. those potential presidents wouldn't have brought in card carrying members of the alt-right to the West Wing.

Yeah there's no going high when it comes to attacking the GOP. I mean there's no way to go high. They've gone so low that the only way to insult them is to get to that level.

Combine that with providing a future that doesn't resemble a dystopian nightmare and we might gain enough seats in 2018 to minimize the damage.

Not that it anything matters, but it's really a sin that US presidents aren't required to be under oath at least a few times regularly throughout their term.

EDIT: Strikethrough edits by me, and not a team of my $1500/hr lawyers.

Clovis,

If you want to meet the Paris goals, put your body in the way of pipeline construction in Alberta.

Quote:
The problem, explains the report, is not just bitumen’s high carbon footprint (about 17 per cent more than conventional oil) but that pipelines drive bitumen expansion and that high-cost tar sands mining projects can last for 50 years.
Quote:
“For all Prime Minister Trudeau’s positive diplomacy in Paris, if he approves a pipeline, he will be the one to make the goals impossible to reach,” says the report.

Call me naive like Jared, but I refuse to believe that Mueller, the FBI, and all the other investigations will let it go to 2018 or 2020 elections before putting insane criminal/financial/whatever necessary pressures on the WH and GOP given the irreversible global damages that will occur before then.

This battle will get very hot and heavy, just the way President Trump likes it.

I don't use Twitter, but it seems like a politician could drown out negative comments with a sea of bots, but I might not understand how Twitter operated.

This is like blaming Mexico/Columbia for the drug problem. Stop the demand and develop cheaper more friendly alternatives and climate change goes away. Anything else isn't going to do ****.

It's why the Paris accord is mostly meaningless here. The administration has no desire to actually do either of the above things. So...

No. My you're defensive.

Tar sand extraction and pipelines don't happen like cocaine grown in the jungle and smuggled in hidden panels in old cars.

Raise the cost of oil and you incentivize alternatives.

It's probably true in the sense that the Canadian government is corrupted by the oil industry, but ours is too. That's why bodies need to be put in the way of pipelines.

Not going to detail the thread but pipelines are BY FAR the most environmentally friendly way to move petroleum products. It's not close.

We can debate further in another thread.

After you block the pipeline, you block the trains and then the trucks. The point is you block.

Pipelines are the cheapest way to transport oil. That make oil products cheaper. That means more gets used, more gets extracted, and less effort is made on replacements.

Lol. I think you misread that.

I also love how some of you guys think breaking an analogy is just pointing out one difference. The point is that stopping some tiny production of some very profitable good is never going to achieve anything.

Yes, the last sentence is true and what I'm talking about. Although, it's a crappier option because it's politically hard. It's better to actually make the alternatives cheaper, possibly with incentives, because dumb people don't realize the money is still coming from them - and because the burden falls more on the wealthy than the poor.

This. There is nothing 'low' about calling a liar a liar. That's why truth is a defence against defamation.

The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already.

That's ridiculous. The same argument could be made that government couldn't regulate anything like DDT, dioxins, nuclear waste dumps, chemical factories in elementary school parking lots. ...

Cory Booker is possibly the biggest fraud in the entire Democratic Party

**** that guy so hard

Your suggestion is that if Canada made tar sands extraction illegal and blocked new pipeline construction that the black market would extract the oil, process it, build pipelines and operate them. And still deliver it at competitive prices.

Come on.

The Canadian government could 100% block the industry. We probably wouldn't even invade you for doing it.
