There are a lot more democrats than there are republicans, we just need to get them out to vote.
Trump should be a big part of the attack, but not everything. He should be painted as the star on top of a tree of garbage. There's a danger of turning out the young voters to get rid of Trump, and then in future elections, they just stay home now that "the Republic is saved." Like def don't want "our work here is done," to be a common sentiment among Dem voters once Trump is out of office.
ETA: Also a lot of standard GOP types who have similar policy agendas as the Trump WH distance themselves from Trump the man, and depending on demographics, even say things like they'll vote against the President if it's not good for the state or against their principles or w/e.
Like a good example of where the pinning-it-all-on-Trump strategy goes wrong is with someone like uDevil's Arizona rep Andy Biggs, who doesn't particularly align with Trump, but it's because he's even more extreme (ly terrible) on certain issues like healthcare than the President. Dems need to turn out in force against guys like him.
