The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

In other news that voter fraud expert or whatever Gregg Phillips is apparently registered to vote in not just 2 states but 3! LOL

I disagree. There's something like 200 million registered voters. Only 60 million voted for Trump. I suspect a large population of the people that didn't vote didn't pay attention because they never thought Trump would win in the first place.

Look, today was ****ed up right? It's only Monday for chrissakes. He's got some new EO coming out against the *gays*. Probably tomorrow or Wednesday. The bottom line is, politics is a numbers game. You can't keep pissing off more and more groups of people and expect to carry the vote. I mentioned earlier in the thread it's one thing to ban Muslims. There are tons of white people that have never met a Muslim in real life. So it's easy to see why they would agree to the ban. But the LBGTQ sector? Way too many people can relate to that. Add in cutting Medicare/Medicaid, Planned Parenthood, and god knows what else. Even dudes like Dick Cheney are saying "Yo man, let's not get crazy."

Seriously though folks before you go to sleep look at reddit aww or some **** as this is getting depressing fast.

Shallowmalepig,

That's interesting and all, but it's really a reflection of what has been going on in this thread. We judge that Trump is aiming for something horrible and authoritarian, but we don't really know if he's in a weak or strong position. Will he be out of power soon or will we be Soeharto'd? If we knew it were the latter, we'd all be carrying arms or headed to an airport by now.

A question to those who had supported sweeping strict gun control in the past:

If tomorrow Trump were to enact heavily restrictive gun control orders, would that make you feel better or worse?

Good Lord, I take a break from the news for a few hours to manage my Kerbal space program and all heck breaks loose.

Can the legal scholars here explain if I'm correct: he fired his att'ny genr'l Nixon-style even though she was an acting official who was out the door anyway? He could have done noting and waited a bit and his boy Sessions would be running the show? Like by all appearances he's just willfully trying to draw comparisons with the Sat Night Massacre?

That's like 25 years ago, dude. ND had an oil boom that petered out within the past 5 years and has been Red for awhile.

Dems in these states aren't exactly capable of being "progressive".

That's what he did. No idea if he was thinking about anything more than "You're Fired!" Or maybe with saying she betrayed the Justice Department he was thinking he was having her shot.

OMG so confused can Simplicitus or one of the legal experts give us a brief rundown of WTF is happening with this country.

Smells like a gotcha question.

Give an example of the restrictions and I'll give my opinion.

This might be old man yells at cloud territory. If you're posting someone's BREAKING NEWS tweet or someone's twitter musings, a very short explanation of why I should trust or care about this source/opinion would be helpful. I have no idea what to think about the sarah kendzior's "we need to stop trump" tweetstorm (i will care more if she's in government than if she isn't). I've learned to disregard randos with BREAKING NEWS.

Yep, he fired her and accused her of betrayal. Her job is to defend the constitution.

If it's guns ok for whites, not so much for others then no.

If it were done well then sure pat on back for trump once I regain consciousness.

Worse, just like all his other EO's and decisions.

I'm not a legal scholar but there seems to be a big difference, Nixon fired his own AG, Trump fired the acting AG put in place by Obama. There just won't be the same backlash.

You overestimate the political/news awareness of at least 30-50% of his voters. Many were just voting against Hillary.

Yeah not gotcha question at all, just a question my pro-gun friend asked an anti-gun friend tonight, and he answered that his panic-meter would definitely rise a few notches, and I was curious what others thought.

Personally I would certainly be more concerned. Then again I am pretty upset at the moment so the shook-meter only has so much more room to move.

Better, because that would tank his approval ratings and the GOP Congress would be free to begin impeachment immediately

it'd only apply to minorities, so he'd just get a boost instead.

I read earlier that Nixon fired the AG, the replacement AG; the replacement replacement AG did as he was told and the public called BS.

But yea, this isn't the same. And of course Trump could piss on the grave of St. Ronny, wipe his dick off the flag, and his base still wouldn't care.

The firing isn't great, considering the WH could've just waited 18 hrs (Sessions is up tomorrow). It is legal, and completely within the WH's right... but that statement. That statement is what speaks volumes.

They told a lot of people to take off before the replacements. I'm more shocked by the "betrayed the Justice Department" talk. Hopefully it's more that Trump et al are incredibly stupid than that they are fascists.
