Hard to say these days. It's certainly true there's a huge ecosystem to get voters, particularly Trump voters, etc. to dismiss anything that isn't servile to right-wing interests as a liberal fiction.

HOWEVER I do think that the olds while they are very very pliable and racist and largely dumb and easy to scam, they remain just spry enough and just sharp enough to know when they are getting ****ed over and I do think the GOP is absolutely at the theoretical boundaries here.

I don't know if Tom is correct that Trump is the ultimate undefeatable post-fact President or if the olds are going to absolutely decimate the GOP but man what a ****ing gamble, olds and their health care, turning Medicare into a premium support scheme for tens of millions of people, that's gotta be like the last remaining true Third Rail before Social Security.

If the GOP can get this one through and survive to tell the tale it's like the end of the Republic. You can torture, you can bomb and invade indiscriminately, you can give infowars a press pass, you can rage tweet all day, you can brag about sexual assault, you can say the old President was a Kenyan imposter who wiretapped you, you can fire all the law enforcement directors, you can tell Russia our dirties ****ing laundry but if Trump and Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell can uninsure 15 million olds and maintain control after 2018/2020, then that's it, game over, fold up shop, there is no stopping these guys.

Healthcare happens to be the one thing Trump voters get pissed most about outside scary Muslims.

that's only 4 points in the category that actually matters.

This week's media bombs are just things we already knew regurgitated. Oh flynn and manafort with the russians again. We know already ffs.

Hopefully DoD realizes we can't tell the president of the united states where our own troops or nuke subs or anything is as he can't shut up.
05-24-2017 , 05:53 PM
The cult is strong.

Trump might lose a few percentage points in the short run. But once brown people blow up another city, he'll get them right back.
05-24-2017 , 06:04 PM
the NYT bomb today is incredibly stupid, it's literally russians talked with each other about how to influence policy on manafort/flynn via talking to them.

That's not a bomb, that's called diplomacy.

Jeez, I hate trump a lot but that's a total nothingburger.

Damn that sounds lame. Putting out stupid stuff like that is gonna hurt their credibility which hurts us all.
05-24-2017 , 06:09 PM
It's articles like those that undermine legitimate articles about Russia's collusion with Donald Trump.

There's no need to fabricate stories out of nothing when there's so much more to report on. It's irresponsible journalism.
05-24-2017 , 06:09 PM
Meh, we don't need a NYT/WaPo bomb today. We got a CBO bomb.

Agreed that we don't need to fabricate/sensationalize any Trump/GOP stories.

Really shameful that nothing will come of this. Just blatant lying at this point.
05-24-2017 , 06:16 PM
wtf are you guys talking about? every story doesn't need to be a "bomb". the NYT got new info that gives more context into the russia/trump connection, and they reported it. what's wrong with that, and how is that "fabricating a story out of nothing"?
05-24-2017 , 06:22 PM
the other bomb we already knew is sessions didn't put russia meetings on his clearance form like he's supposed to. Like Kushner, this would normally revoke that clearance but lol @ that happening under trump.

I don't know how "russia discussed how to influence team trump" is a story whatsoever or even should've been published. Nearly every country in the world certainly had some meeting on that. We certainly do that with nearly all of them.
05-24-2017 , 06:23 PM
Articles like this detract from the real bomb which is the CBO score.
05-24-2017 , 06:25 PM
I'm going off Wheatrich description of it, but the problem isn't that it's not a bomb. It's that it's an article reporting about Russians talking about how to influence US politicians which is a non story. The problem with it is trying to make a big deal out of stuff that isn't a big deal undermines everything else they do.

It's like the Trump has two scoops of ice cream nonsense. Conservatives eat that stuff up and gives them reason to dismiss everything else.

I'll read the article in a bit to see if theres more to it.

Seems there are a lot of "bomb", perhaps some of them duds, dropping today.

Lol, wheatrich states media isn't trustworthy and then procedes to argue media shouldn't do its job.

We hear about these crazy bills being proposed but almost none of them even get debated, let alone voted on. It's just a way to generate more fear of the Trump administration.

1) I clearly didn't say that.

2) it's the media's job to report news, not propping up something which is clearly nothing as intentionally fueling an agenda which that report clearly is. They've done it a lot which is why most people hate them and that isn't news anymore than whatever Hannity does. They need to stop that.

Sorry, I'm in neither tribalism camp where we are all good and everything that isn't us is bad like 2p2 hivethink.

"WASHINGTON — American spies collected information last summer revealing that senior Russian intelligence and political officials were discussing how to exert influence over Donald J. Trump through his advisers, according to three current and former American officials familiar with the intelligence." - from the NYT article

This is news. It isn't what Hannity does. This information was gathered by intelligence agencies, not by Kim Dotcom, or whatever conspiracy theorist is peddling the Seth Rich crap.

Republicans removing health care from part of their stupid voting base is one of the great social experiments of our time.
05-24-2017 , 07:09 PM
We are at the point there are multiple stories PER DAY that would have previously ended the presidency.

This is the biggest clown show in history. It will be studied for millennia by historians as one of the most inept and corrupt governments of a previously stable democracy.
