If the Attorney General is a position of trust then why is Trump firing her a big deal?

Because this was the last straw for Nixon. But I'm not going to say that firing Yates is as bad.

Edit: There's also a statute that curtails the president's power to regulate immigration by preventing a president from discriminating based upon, amongst other things, religion or national origin.

Welcome to America.

Trump doesn't waste any time that's for sure

LUL, they always have to make it personal by calling her weak multiple times. I can imagine Trump standing over the shoulder of Bannon or whomever was writing the press release on a computer and telling them to make sure to specifically mention that she was "weak."

Google "Saturday Night Massacre."

Basically, Nixon ordered his AG to fire the special prosecutor investigating him. AG said no, so Nixon fired him. Nixon then ordered the deputy AG to do it. Deputy AG said no, so Nixon fired him. Nixon then ordered the solicitor general (Robert Bork), the third in command to do it. Bork said yes. It brought widespread bipartisan condemnation and dried up any remaining support Nixon had left with his own party.

Cliffs: When DOJ types refused to bend the knee, Nixon went down the line until he found someone who would.

I couldn't believe that line was real.

I can't tell if that statement is more The Apprentice reality TV or Hitler.

I was thinking the same thing. That statement looks like it came from a dictator, not a president. Things just keep getting scarier by the day.

I think it's Bannon standing over Conway's shoulder as she types. Trump is in the room, but he's on a couch nearby, flipping between cable news stations. Half listening, he occasionally bellows "WEAK!" as they tweak the wording.

Totally. Dire as I thought it would be, I never imagined it would go to such **** SO quickly.

The scary thing is most people are supporting this. The protestors are skewing perception but polls even by CNN show 47-52% of people supporting these moves by Trump and most Trumpites won't even come out of the woodwork as we saw with misleading polls ahead of the election so the number is probably higher.

He couldn't wait one frigging day for Sessions to be confirmed.

There is no credible evidence people are supporting it. The sauce is being reduced to Trump's hardcore base. It will be strong but not enough for a meal.

Well that escalated quickly. You think Trump is going to lose public support over this? I don't. As I said yesterday, I truly hope you are right.

Trump obviously isn't really in favor of freedom of the press.

He wants flag burners jailed and stripped of citizenship. No respect for freedom of speech.

Clearly not a fan of freedom of religion.

He sees nothing wrong with trashing America's long-held ideals that welcome immigrants.

His supporters are fine with all of that. Totally fine with it. And that is why he is where he is today. So crazy.
