we had to actually go to trial and fight it in court tho
Did the state have to pay for your lawyer? Cause that's ****ing bull****. I would most likely sue for false imprisonment

I agree. It's entertaining to follow the special prosecutor drama, but actual bad things are happening that shouldn't be ignored. Jeff Sessions's approach to charging and sentencing, which is straight out of the 1980s, is a perfect example.

Except the fifth doesn't apply to document requests, just testimony.

Crap like this is common, especially on the East Coast. I grew up in NJ and moved to FL about 10 years ago. I've made the I-95 trip probably 20x. GA and VA are notorious for having cops hiding at state borders to grab you for speeding. They love pulling people over from out of state b/c they know that person isn't likely to fight a speeding charge. They literally hide in the bushes Dukes of Hazzard style.

I love how they are just standing around and Daddy is like "FOLKS! FOLKS! I never mentioned Israel!" completely unprompted.

For sure. They're trying to fund as much of the budget as possible from people who live out of state.

What an idiot. By saying he didn't say Isreal in his meeting with the Ruskis, he's just confirming that is where the source originated. Imbecile.

"Yeah, that's what they said," Ebner replied. "The test results were wrong, and also, if I had a urine test, it would have come back positive for drugs."

But Katelyn got her own urine test the same week as her arrest -- scanning for any metabolites that would still be in her system. The urine test was also negative for marijuana -- or other drugs.

"This training is so powerful, that they believe they can detect drugs that a blood test will not detect," Keefe said. "Is that surprising to you?"

"That's extremely surprising," Princess Mbamara replied. "That's extremely surprising -- because this is my life that they're playing with."

Last week, Cobb County's DUI Task Force was awarded a trophy by Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and Officer Carroll was given a Silver Medal for 90 DUI arrests during 2016.

"He's getting an award for just arrests," Mbamara said. "Not even convictions. Arrests."Mbamara said. "Not even convictions. Arrests."

For those who assume that all SCOTUS decision break on party lines, it's worth noting yesterday's 5-3 decision in a gerrymandering case. Thomas was the deciding fifth vote and he sided with Kagan and the other "liberal" justices.

These sorts of weird, one-off coalitions are not infrequent, even in cases like this one that obviously have political implications.

That is not true. There is an "act of production doctrine." Basically, courts have found that in some instances, the very act of producing the documents is incriminating in itself, and thus the 5th applies.

A simple example, someone steals documents from my business. I suspect you stole them and send you a subpoena for the document. Producing them would obviously incriminate you, so courts say that this is the equivalent of being forced to give self-incriminating testimony that you stole the documents.

This doctrine is not particularly well defined in practice, so will be interesting to see what documents Flynn would be allowed to withhold under the 5th.

Link to description of seminal SCOTUS case explaining doctrine:

They both seem to be sponsors of terrorism, though.
I like you and enjoy your passionate posting but this is an awful and shameful post.

But then the Feds can get search warrants for most documents anyway.

I honest to god can't tell what is true anymore. Did an inforwars guy get credentials for real?

Edit: Jesus this is true. And just today Tillerson holds a press conference in the Middle East with no American press invited. This is a really really bad sign. America is suppose to be a beckon of free press to the world.
