I mean at this point somebody is coordinating these news dumps for 5PM Eastern. I'd assume TV Networks want it for maximum Primetime exposure when the story is only 2-5 hours old rather than dropping the story at 8AM.

Nah I think he can do it whenever. Dubya commuted Scooter Libby's sentence mid-term. They usually wait until they're lame ducks to minimize political fallout, though.

There already are multiple mega stories today but they're all meh in comparison with this president. He's been normalized a bit.

Flynn refusing to respond to the subpoena is concerning. For the last 2 months, his lawyers publicly begged 3 different investigations for immunity, saying he has a story to tell in exchange. Then a special counsel is appointed, and a day later he announces his intention to ignore the Senate committee's subpoena. Why the reversal?

Did Trump get to him overnight? Are his lawyers suggesting this as damage control? Is his life in danger?

It might be a good move for the FBI to grab him ASAP. Flynn is kind of important to the story.

Hmmm that's interesting. Is the WH trying to smear Rosenstein?

The reasoning for why Rosenstein appointed the special counsel was because he was upset the WH threw him under the bus for the Comey firing and he didn't know that's why they wanted the memo. If that's false, why else would Rosenstein do what he did?

The talking heads this morning were saying it's no big deal and was expected. Basically it buys him time, at no real cost. He could be held in contempt, but that will get dropped when he does agree to testify, so refusing now buys him a couple-few weeks.
