For the record, is there a single legit illegal act from Obama?
Bombing Libya for more than 60 days violated the war powers act.

Conservative blogger, Erick Erickson (friend of Joe Jack and Bobby Robby), is theorizing that the Justice Department moved on a Special Prosecutor because they feel the President is safe.

The odds are that the Department of Justice would not launch this sort of investigation if they did not already have an inkling of there being no real issues with the president. If they were really concerned about the president, they would keep this in house where they could exercise greater damage control.
Anybody have any thoughts on this? The decision was made by the the Deputy Attorney General, Rod Rosenstein, so it's really a matter of his credibility, right?

On the other side is the Washington Post saying this is only bad for the White House.

This move became inevitable once Rosenstein was embroiled in the Comey firing. Indeed, the appointment of a special counsel may be seen as recognition that those events — in which Rosenstein is both a witness and a participant — must be examined.

Can we contrast the two of them? For example, Nixon was a little better at being a criminal than Trump.

Keep this post on the back burner for when Trump fires Rosenstein.

Nixon lasted two years after the breakin, Trump about one year and counting since he started flacking for Putin. Guess we'll find out.

It's actually kind of similar to the somewhat misguided Trump-Hitler comparisons. Trump and Hitler definitely share a common ideology of sorts, but Hitler had a plan and he had a lot of intelligence and discipline. Trump doesn't have any of these.

At the fascism level impeachment is a priority. On a policy level a ruined presidency with convictions for high level admin officials might be better than president Pence.

Can't really compare the two, imo, because the composition of Congress is different. If Dems held Congress right now, it's hard to imagine we wouldn't be much further along in unraveling this thing by now.

Hitler's intelligence is way overrated imo. He ruined his country with horrible decisions and like Trump the responsibility wasn't just on him, but about 35% of the country being deplorable.
05-18-2017 , 09:32 AM
Well I think that can be true and he can still be more intelligent than Trump by an order of magnitude.

I mean, given what we heard about Trump's reaction when Jefferson the Half-Elven recused himself, this has to happen right? Either Rosenstein defied his boss, which gets him fired, or he had his boss' blessing, which lends credence to Leif Ericsson's theory.

When Trump does [horrific act X as recommended by Steve Bannon] it will probably be 100% legal. Slavery was legal, as was the holocaust, and mass incarceration/Jim Crow.

Having thought about it overnight, the Flynn/Raqqa story is definitely the biggest thing to have happened this week (so far!). The National Security Advisor was paid by a foreign government to manipulate U.S. military operations to softplay ISIS to serve the interests of his dictatorial foreign paymasters. And both Trump and Pence knew! It's just breathtaking.

It's crazy. He was a secret agent essentially manipulating our military operations in favor of ISIS+Turkey. And they knew.
05-18-2017 , 09:58 AM
they knew.
