This should certainly happen, along with gathering info about his debt to Russia that might not be reflected on his returns or financials.

The thing is, some genius WH lawyer told Trump that he could LEGALLY fire Comey, but he didn't explain the 1000 reasons it would be a really bad idea. Well, as seen with tax returns and divestment, Trump often confuses legally permissible with good idea. In this case it was not a good idea.

Also, note that Sessions reluctantly recusing himself led to this. Watch his statement on recusal, it appears he was talked into it even though he disagreed. He said he would recuse himself from anything concerning Russia and the campaign. It just so happens that the AG appoints special counsel, unless he is recused. Here, the SCs job was legalistically defined as involving Russia and the campaign, but it's likely much broader, so Sessions got lawyered by Rosenstine, who proceeds to appoint Comey's bff. This is how you play chess vs an opponent who is making mud pies.

Finally, it must have taken at least 3 days to appoint Muller, who resigned from his very lucrative gig from a major firm, with a few other partners, leaving plenty of current matters that the firm was handling because of him. I'd think that exit would take some time to arrange.

Despite the common refrain of the ignorant, it's not always about the money.

President Hatch will be a different kind of comedy.

This is exactly how I feel. I'm leaving the country today. When I get back America will be totally different.

Have you heard of the term witch hunt? I just invented it. It describes whats going on pretty well huh?
05-18-2017 , 08:07 AM
The press needs to ask Trump more direct questions IMO. Stuff like, "Is Pence able to replace you, or is he also dirty?"

He'll give great answers that get great ratings too. The man is Carter Page to the nth power.

Remember the projection built into every statement. This means he's on a tremendous witch hunt himself -- for leaks.

Serious question when guilty people are accused of things or questioned are there studies on how they react?
05-18-2017 , 08:22 AM
I think the leaks will slow down a little with Mueller in place. But that silence, if it happens, may be more disturbing to our increasingly-paranoid President than the current norm.

If there's not, this will become the go to case study.

Well, this is new. A fair & balanced Fox story that accepts the existence of Comey's incriminating memo. Also they didn't bring up Hillary once, despite the overwhelming temptation.

Comey known as prolific note-taker – could more memos emerge?

If you take him for his word here about "all the illegal acts" with those two, it says something about the incredibly high bar he crossed to have a special counsel appointed.

Maybe you know that and we & 80% of the world know that. He's claiming it's unfair though.

For the record, is there a single legit illegal act from Obama?

He once saluted with a cup of coffee in his hand. I think the right wanted to impeach him for that one.

Eh, three days is possible. If you're called upon to conduct one of the most important criminal investigations/prosecutions in American History, and up until then you've mostly been a lifetime prosecutor, you can get you stuff wrapped up in 3 days. I'm sure his other partners and current clients and any judges they had matters in front of were more than understanding.

The worst job in Washington right now: Working for Trump
For many White House staffers, impromptu support groups of friends, confidants and acquaintances have materialized, calling and texting to check in, inquiring about their mental state and urging them to take care of themselves.

One Republican operative in frequent contact with White House officials described them as*“going through the stages of grief.” Another said some aides have*“moved to angry,” frustrated with a president who demands absolute loyalty but in recent days has publicly tarnished the credibility of his team by sending them out with one message — only to personally undercut it later with a contradicting tweet or public comment.

We need to stop comparing Trump to Nixon. Nixon orchestrated a cover-up of a two bit burglary at a hotel to steal election plans, and then did a whole bunch of lying and obstruction of justice. Trump or members of his campaign possibly conspired with a hostile foreign power to manipulate an election and enrich themselves in the process. The two are night and day.
