The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

Holy news tonight! Grunching...

Dear Republicans,

This is all about saving face. We need to show Putin that democracy still prevails. Stop being selfish and join the cause.

Thanks,
The Civilized World

If it's coming from Cernovich, it is probably fake. He's a fake news meister.

Right wing media is going nuts over this from Comey under oath before the Senate, May 3:

Quote:
COMEY: Not in my experience. Because it would be a big deal to tell the FBI to stop doing something that — without an appropriate purpose. I mean where oftentimes they give us opinions that we don’t see a case there and so you ought to stop investing resources in it. But I’m talking about a situation where we were told to stop something for a political reason, that would be a very big deal. It’s not happened in my experience.
That's all I saw quoted where I initially saw this. Here it is in context:

Quote:
HIRONO: So if the Attorney General or senior officials at the Department of Justice opposes a specific investigation, can they halt that FBI investigation?

COMEY: In theory yes.

HIRONO: Has it happened?

COMEY: Not in my experience. Because it would be a big deal to tell the FBI to stop doing something that — without an appropriate purpose. I mean where oftentimes they give us opinions that we don’t see a case there and so you ought to stop investing resources in it. But I’m talking about a situation where we were told to stop something for a political reason, that would be a very big deal. It’s not happened in my experience.
Pretty hard to find political common ground with people who are either not capable of basic reading comprehension or are unwilling to engage in it.

He's been oddly prescient when it comes to staff shakeups etc within the organization. I'd bet he has someone who's partial to him on the inside. Other than whatever's happening in the Trump organization he's a complete dumbass.

trump gonna go full bore and everyone in the admin gonna be a monster just like him (newt certainly is one).

Also, in jared and ivanka are moderating influences

Blind spot assumes you know what you're doing and you just missed something for whatever reason. This is not a blind spot, it's incompetence.

If Trump brings Gingrich into the administration he's going to end up trying to humiliate him like Christie. Gingrich is too famous, ambitious and big a personality for Trump to tolerate for long.

Important to understand that it's the bolded. Average Trump voter made what, $70,000 last year? These guys aren't exactly working in the coal mines like they might have you think.

It's certainly that in many cases, but Hanlon's Razor is a thing.

The Mythology Of Trump’s ‘Working Class’ Support
His voters are better off economically compared with most Americans.

Interesting to note Trump voters make more than Clinton or Sanders voters, about the same as Cruz voters and significantly less than Kasich voters.
Trump 72k
Clinton 61k
Sanders 61k
Cruz 73k
Kasich 91k

What's the razor that says when you get to a certain level of white privilege, you start to feel so unaccountable for your actions that your malice and your stupidity get mixed up until you might forget where one ended and the other began.

Just a reminder that Trump is heading to the Middle East soon, and that the man spearheading the speechwriting is Steven Miller.

Gingrich would be a vicious attack dog and Trump desperately wants someone like that, not the pansies he has now. Gingrich is Trump's moral peer. And not a small point in his favor is that Gingrich knows the impeachment process.

Jason Chaffetz totally cool with the special counsel that Jason Chaffetz isn't cool with.

Trump's Razor

I think we see that more and more since there's going to be increasingly little crossover from Fox viewers and MSM viewers, and if confronted with the contradiction just say it's MSM fake news.

There's something strange about the statements from Ryan and McConnell and other Rs tonight. They go all this time, hugely negative story against Trump after hugely negative story against Trump, without a peep. Then after special counsel is appointed (also hugely negative against Trump) they're working overtime at 7:30pm to get statements and tweets in the open, parting ways with Trump as quickly as they can. Just weird.

I understand they were away for a few days, but many were making comments about plenty of other topics...none including any of Trump's missteps.

The timing is what doesn't make sense. There was no conversation between Trump and any (top) GOP about how to take the news or how to choose their words before going public? It's like Trump is observing radio silence since the news of the Comey memos. Hopefully he has enough self control to do this for a few more days *crosses fingers* because uncoordinated Republican "conversions" are indeed welcome.

How do we know appointing Flynn wasn't a condition the Trump campaign agreed to in exchange for help during the campaign?
05-18-2017 , 12:33 AM
I think Russia's expansionary actions will be generally constrained by their need to preserve western Europe as a market for gas and oil. Putin may be the richest person in the world and it's because of shares he owns in Russian oil and gas companies.

Twitter is a wonderful place. Think this January 18th tweet from the Turkish foreign minister helps or hurts Trump's case for Flynn? Drip, drop...
