So if Trump gets impeached and Pence and Ryan and god knows who the heck else get caught up in the scrum and our national government effectively comes to a screeching halt, how many countries does Putin invade while we're distracted? Just the Ukraine? Baltics too? Does he try to reestablish the entire iron curtain?

I can tell you from experience that its quite possible that many newsrooms are a bit overwhelmed. It took a long time before anyone did much on the Turkish bodyguard thuggery today. On a different day, it would have gotten lead story status and three or four minutes of coverage on the network newscasts.

I can also say that the days of the airheaded anchor people are about over. You've got to be able to adlib and ask good questions and roll with the flow these days. There are a couple at CNN whose names I won't mention that are in a bit over their heads IMO.
